We seem to have become accustom to a world that is seemingly full of chaos and negativity. Our lives have been filled with news reports that seem to confirm to us that we have lost control of all the good in the world. It seems the older we get, the faster things change, the bar of good taste gets lowered, the youth get away with craziness. Or so it seems.

Yes, the weather patterns have changed, they seem more severe, create more damage, but look on the positive side. We have all had the urge to pray for those affected, we have sent resources when possible, not only digging into our pockets, but into our hearts. This is a very important view to observe. We may be cruelly being urged to do this, none the less, we are doing it. This brings to mind the saying among many like minded friends, change or be changed. I wonder what would happen if we just prayed and sent love to everyone everyday? Could we avoid some of the chaos in the world?

The economic downturn is also something the media likes to flaunt at us as often as possible. People are living in fear of losing everything, even if they do have a job. Is this necessary? While it is important to keep tabs on your financial situation, it is never good to dwell on the negative. What you choose to put your attention on will grow, choose wisely. Look at the companies that are losing right now, how have them performed in the past, is there a common link between who is falling and who is growing? Is it possible that the light is starting to balance out the darkness in the economy? Is it possible that people that have stayed in a job for many years are being given an opportunity to fill their soul contract by doing what they came here to do? Are they taking the time to think about what they really want, or are they just running to the next best thing?

Studies have shown that it is in our darkest of hours that we come to a better understanding of ourselves, a deeper inner peace. This has proven to be true in my life, many times over. Having had the experience, I prefer to do what it takes each day to stay in tune with my inner peace. Having said that I am far from perfect at staying in that space. I do have daily practices such as yoga, meditation and breathing exercises that keep me in touch with my inner self. There are many highways to the inner self, use what works for you, the point is to do it, and continue to do it. You may find walking in the woods does it for you, or listening to a certain type of music, or running, the list goes on, find what works for you and make a commitment to yourself to keep it up.

More and more people are starting to wake up, starting to live from this inner peace, starting to shine our lights brighter, connecting with more and more people of like minds. The closer we get to 2012, the more we move toward a lighter consciousness. To me, this indicates that as the universe becomes lighter we won't need the dark nights in our lives to bring us to that inner peace.

Each person that is doing the inner work now(and in the past) is affecting change on those around them, bringing more light to the world. We can have a positive affect on the whole universe if we join hands and through helping each other, raise the light. It starts with you. What can you do today to shine your light out onto the world? You may have to find that light first, which is fine, it will appear and so will your teachers simply by setting the intention that you want to find it.

Once we find that place of inner silence and peace within, we find that we want to spend more and more time there. What we are experiencing here is our true natural selves, it's us, less the fear, the guilt, the shame, the doubt, the resentments and the pain. This is how we were meant to live, it is only from this place that we can truly have an affect on the whole.

Getting to this place is a journey, not always an easy one, but the most rewarding highway you will ever travel. As you travel along you will realize you are never alone on this trip. Some days you will find yourself a student, while others you will be the teacher. We start to shine our light on the darkest places within us, only to find, the darkness was there so we could find the light. The deeper we travel, the brighter we shine, struggles fall away, life seems to flow to us, rather than us reaching for it. As we heal, we heal the planet.

Jump on board, join the crowd that are moving to a higher consciousness. Make a commitment to yourself, after all life is all about being happy. You don't have to become a monk or guru to do your part. You can and will make a difference in the world, you are part of the whole like it or not.
