Passion Tracking

What if you don’t know how to locate your passion? Think you have no obvious interests? Think you’re too old? Have you put your belief into any obstacle or limitation you’ve bought into? Finding passion is methodical for some people in order to be prepared to move forward, so they can create their passion goal into a goal come true.

1) Notice The Path You’re On Right Now

Take a look as though you’re an outsider looking in on your life – is this person (you) in the wrong territory? Or are they (you) in their natural habitat? Finding your passion is like being a tracker. For instance, one man was an office supervisor. He liked his coworkers but he felt like his life was slipping away without his having really lived. One woman was a corporate manager who was grateful for her job but found herself feeling continually exhausted and miserable. What do think reading these examples – natural habitat or wrong territory for them? Now look in at you being in your life – are you on the trail of passion or are you immersed in a place that does not suit your best interests?

2) Remember a Great Path

Scan your memory for any experience(s) that was so good a feeling you did not even notice time passing. Be a tracker. Look for signs, times, and places where and when you were connected with your passion. One person remembered a time they traveled and because they spoke the language of the country they were in were able to assist other travelers. Another person remembered when they used to do sculpture as hobby and the joy they felt making art. And yet another person recalled when they taught their child with ADD to read. Each of these people tracked their passion through their memory of experiences to what felt fantastic and caused time to move without noticing its passing.

3) Look For Patterns

Observe patterns in your life. What do you find you’re continually drawn to? Trips? Seminars? Animals? Outdoor activities? Learning? Teaching? Healing? Where is the pattern in your life?

4) Shine A Light on Your Life

Write down the activities you engage in throughout your week. What does your schedule consist of? How are the activities you do going for you? Are they terrific, warm and happy activities? Are there some cold activities you’d rather not do that deplete your passion? Each week cancel one depleting activity, and in its place add a warm activity you feel passionate about. Keep removing any dead zones and start adding passion.

These steps are cumulative, as they add up and become big changes. Keep tracking your path and passion and it will become abundantly clear if you are to make additional changes and what you are to do. As your passion rises you will understand the natural habitat for who you are, and where you’re meant to be. Your gut will direct you to your perfect fit. Be flexible. Remain open. Shift into the source of your passion starting now.

"There is no greatness without a passion to be great, whether it's the aspiration of an athlete or an artist, a scientist, a parent, or a businessperson." — Anthony Robbins

"Love is the spiritual essence of what we do. Technique is the manifestation of the preparation and investment as a result of the love." — Wynton Marsalis, To a Young Jazz Musician

"Love. Fall in love and stay in love. Write only what you love, and love what you write. The key word is love. You have to get up in the morning and write something you love, something to live for." — Ray Bradbury, On the key to success

"Every man is proud of what he does well; and no man is proud of what he does not do well. With the former, his heart is in his work; and he will do twice as much of it with less fatigue. The latter performs a little imperfectly, looks at it in disgust, turns from it, and imagines himself exceedingly tired. The little he has done, comes to nothing, for want of finishing." — Abraham Lincoln, September 30, 1859 in Address before the Wisconsin State Agricultural Society
