MBTI

Do you know what your MBTI is? Forgive me for assuming you know what MBTI is. MBTI stands for Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. The purpose of the MBTI is something of creating a psychological profile of people, it indicates their habits, their personality type, and how they are likely to react to situations. Given that everybody is different, the MBTI aims to at least narrow down the wide spectrum of human personalities in order to get a better grasp on the idea of psychology and behaviour. From a scientific perspective the MBTI is very much cerebral and not so much rooted in fact as much as it is in assumption about oneself and others. As the MBTI requires direct input from those undergoing the MBTI, there is an error of margin based entirely in how the subject answers the question. During the MBTI it is entirely likely that the subject could underestimate, overestimate, or outright lie about their preferences, their personality, or how they think they would react to any given situation. For this reason the MBTI cannot be considered complete truth or fact, but given the assumption that the subject does indeed answer the MBTI questions with a degree of honesty or at the very least accuracy you should be able to find out what MBTI they are.

The MBTI can determine whether someone is submissive, or dominant. The MBTI can show if someone has a lot of internalised anger or emotions, or expresses themselves freely. In terms of psychological profiling the MBTI is an invaluable tool in finding out how someone ticks. Given the expanse of the human mind being beyond the usual comprehension of many, the MBTI accurately narrows down personality types down enough to figure out the basics of a personality in order to build a more complete profile around that concept. In criminology the MBTI is highly important in determining the building blocks of a personality in order to determine why someone would commit the type of crime they have been convicted of. The MBTI has uses beyond this, but in the work world it is sadly somewhat limited due to narrow application methods.
