A low-carbohydrates diet will help you lose weight quickly. However, there are some things I believe you should note about carbohydrates which may shed some light on why a low-carbohydrates diet should never be a permanent weight loss solution.

Carbohydrates are a fundamental source of energy for your bodily functions. Even if you do not know the technicality behind, you should know that if you eat a lot of sugar within a short period of time, which is a simple carbohydrate which your body digests very quickly, you get a sudden boost of energy. On the other hand, if you eat fewer carbohydrates, you'll have less energy; so if you choose to pursue a low-carbohydrates diet, be prepared to feel a little more sluggish. Exercise is also a necessary aspect to most, if not all weight loss programs, but if you are not taking in enough carbohydrates, you will find it more difficult to get through your workout. Mental toughness can get you so far - beyond that, your body is going to need fuel.

When you eat, your body stores excess carbohydrates as fat, which is why a low-carbohydrates diet can help you lose weight so quickly. When you stop eating the minimum amount of carbohydrates you need, your body will instead burn your body fats to give the extra fuel you need. It seems that you can just let your body rely on fats to get you through your day. After you lose all of your unsightly fats, you can start eating carbohydrates again to supply your body with the energy it needs, and magically you are slim already!

Unfortunately, there is a problem. Having an excess amount of food to eat is a new problem that our bodies have not fully learned to deal with. Our body is made to help us retain fats for survival, not to lose fats naturally. Thus, if you try a low-carbohydrates or even a crash diet, your metabolism will slow down and your rate of fat loss will become increasingly slower. You will progressively lose less weight as time goes on. When you finally start eating carbohydrates again, your body will convert even more of them into fats than it usually would in preparation for another fast. In fact, this is why many people who make use of a temporary low carbohydrates diet will end up even heavier than they were before the diet.
