On the one hand, understanding law of attraction and how it works seems simple enough, but on the other hand figuring out the secret to how to make law of attraction work for you can often feel incredibly complex.

I don't know how many times I've thought I was on the right track, became very focused and specific in my requests to the Universe, and followed the manifestation process explicitly as it's described by so many of the law of attraction and self help gurus.

Yet still, nothing. Nada. I'm left looking at results I don't want and wondering what it is I'm doing wrong.

So it was quite interesting to me recently when I was reading the book What God Wants by Neale Donald Walsch. Interesting because the answer to my question about what I'm doing wrong was sitting right there in the book, waiting to be discovered by me.

When you ask for something, you are announcing you do not have it.” (Neale Donald Walsch, What God Wants)

Think about that statement, particularly within the context of how law of attraction works. How often do you express what you desire in the form of a request? If you are like most people, the answer is most of the time.

So perhaps therein lies the answer to the question -- stop expressing what you want as a request.

It's been said many times that the language you use with yourself has everything to do with the success you achieve. If you accept for a moment what Walsch says as true, consider the true meaning behind these requests:
When you say "Please give me the strength" are you really declaring you do not have the strength?
When you say "Please help me find a solution" are you really declaring you do not have a solution?
When you say "Please help me find a job" are you really declaring you cannot find a job?
When you say "Please help me be more loving" are you really declaring you are not loving?
When you say "Please help me find the courage" are you really declaring you do not have the courage?
When you say "Please help me find the money" are you really declaring you do not have the money?
When you say "Please help me find the answer" are you really declaring you cannot find the answer?
When you say Please give me clarity" are you really declaring you do not have clarity?

Walsch goes on to say in his book that to declare you do not have something is the same as denying it from yourself -- and that you cannot have that which you deny.

From an attraction perspective, consider for a moment the vibrational alignment -- or to be more accurate misalignment -- with what you are wanting and what you are in fact declaring to the Universe; they are literally polar opposites.

No wonder what we are doing is not working.

It strikes me that the solution then is to stop asking and start directing. This is how affirmations can become such a powerful manifestation tool.

“I have the strength.”
“I have the solution.”
“I have the job.”
“I am more loving.”
“I have the courage.”
“I have the money.”
“I have the answer.”
“I have clarity.”

Notice how different you feel when repeating these statements as opposed to when you frame them as a request ... because the difference is very significant. And the alignment with what you want to attract is much, much stronger.

If you believe that we are all one with the Universe and that we are all interconnected, then you already have everything and anything you could possible desire. All that is left is to summon it with a clear directive that declares you already have it ... and then allow the inspired answers and solutions to come to you. That is the secret to how law of attraction works and how to make it work for you.
