A common belief among many people is that money is not spiritual. I have heard people say spiritual workers should work for free. Of course that statement comes from false belief and ego. You will hear that the Bible says that money is the root of all evil. That is not what the Bible says. It says that “the love of money is the root of all evil.” There is a big difference between the two statements. Love of money means an attachment to money is evil. The truth is that an attachment of any kind is the root of all evil. It matters not if its money, a person, a relationship or any other attachment. Attachment breeds possessiveness, greed and make the attachment your God. You cannot live without that attachment and your life is miserable. You are caught on the merry go round of holding on to your attachment. When Jesus said inMatthew 19:21-22: "Jesus said unto him, if thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions." Jesus was not asking him to give his money away but give away the attachment to it. When he said give to the poor He was referring to give the poor the secret of giving to receive. But it fell on deaf ears the way it falls on so many that have deaf ears today.

Can you imagine what would happen if spiritual workers worked for free? We would see churches closing, spiritual workers starving and not being able to pay their bills. What is spiritual about that?

What does the bible actually says about money and spirituality. Here are just a few quotes from the Bible “Don't be mean and selfish with your money.” (Deut. 15:7) “The more the Lord has given you, the more you should give them.” (Deut. 15:14)Actually giving helps a person establish a healthy relationship with money. Giving is a way of growing spiritually and increasing our prosperity. As we give to spiritual endeavors it returns to us multiplied. Jesus taught “Give and it shall be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For the measure you use, it will be measured to you,” (Luke 6:38 ). Paul writes: “Remember this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously” (2 Cor. 9:6). The same teaching is found in (Ecclesiastes 11:1), “Be generous, and someday you will be rewarded” That is the principle of tithing in a nutshell.
If you want abundance in your life give to the place that feeds you spiritually. You are a steward of whatever you have and when you look at it from that point of view you will never be depleted of abundance, prosperity and happiness.

Ask yourself these questions and answer honestly.
• Do I give with a happy heart or am I going against my will?
• Do I give as much as I can or do I give the minimum?
• Do I give freely or am I slow in responding?
• Am I generous in my giving or am I stingy?
• Do I feel blessed in my giving or do I feel resentful?

Do the answers that you gave reflect that you are a generous, loving giver because you realize that you are steward of that money or do you feel it is yours alone? Let your conscious be your guide. But remember your health, happiness and prosperity depend on it. When you die all material possession are gone. The only thing left is your character and integrity.
If you want to have success, abundance and prosperity in every area of your life GIVE. Give of service, give of prayer, give of work and give of money and watch it all come back to you.

In your life if your relationships, job and happiness have not been working for you, now you know why. When you give you are giving to yourself. So be good to yourself. Giving returns blessings to those that give.
