Angioplasty and bypass like any surgical intervention have possible side effects as a consequence, neither prevents a future heart attack, they only eliminate anginal symptoms. These procedures only treat the angiogram and not the vast majority of plaque which is buried in the wall and whose rupture is the real cause of heart attack.
