Are you truly happy with your life? Do you look forward to getting out of bed every morning? Are you doing what you are really meant to do in this life?

If you answered yes to these questions then you have what I call mental well-being. I define mental well-being as that state of mind where you know that things are going well for you and will continue to do so. You are basically on top of the world and have your life running efficiently on all cylinders.

It's not necessarily easy to get to this point. Life has many ways of dragging us down if we are not watchful of what's happening. It takes conscious effort to come out on top of this game called Life.

I believe human beings are divided into two major areas - mental and physical. If your body is having problems, your mind will be distracted and working most efficiently. If your mind is upset and anxious it can have adverse effects on your body. Only when both areas are in good working order can we really be at our very best.

The physical body can be adversely affected by things such as injury and disease. There isn't too much you can do to prevent a car accident - accidents happen no matter how careful we may be. Physical abuse is another area where we may not have much choice in the matter. Some people will always abuse others. All you can do is try to stay away from such people.

If you are exposed to a contagious virus or germs, there's a good chance that you may suffer its effects. Taking care to avoid this scenario is the best defense from this happening. And of course if we do become sick in this way, a trip to the doctor or emergency room is certainly in order.

However, disease is an area we may have a little more control over. It has been shown repeatedly that some diseases are mentally induced. If you think you are going to get the cold that your neighbor at work has, then you will probably get it. If you are always afraid that you are going to catch the latest bug that's going around, then you most likely will.

With this in mind, it certainly makes sense to try and keep a positive attitude towards life. Believing that you are healthy, and will remain that way, can definitely cause your health to be better. Many studies have shown that positive people live much happier and healthier lives.

Eating right and getting some exercise are well-known ways of insuring that your body will be as healthy as possible, as well as avoiding smoking and drugs and cutting down on alcohol. We only get one body in this life - we must treat it with the respect and care it deserves.

I believe that we are our own best friend when it comes to being happy and cruising through life in an optimum manner. We all need to take responsibility for our own actions and situations. If you are unhappy with some portion of your life it is up to you to do something about it. Nobody cares more for you than you yourself.

When you think of your life and all the benefits and blessings in it, give thanks that you are as well off as you are. If you have a decent place to live and food to eat everyday you are better off than a large percentage of the world. Be thankful and allow more abundance to flow into your life. It's a conscious decision to do so.

Not happy with your lot in life? It's up to you to change it. You may not be able to quit your job and tell off your boss yet, but if you will think and plan for the future, you may be able to do it sooner than you think. The universe if full of abundance - your's is out there if you will make some effort to grab it. Allow your life to take a turn for the better and work faithfully towards this goal.

Your mental well-being will surely improve if you look for the positives in life and let the negatives slide off your back. You can make a decision - do I want to be happy and healthy or do I want to be unhappy and sickly?

You owe it to yourself to take the high road and allow your mental well-being to soar.
