As we age, there are many changes that happen in the human body. Our bones become weak, causing us to not be able to do the things we used to do such as play sports at a high level, lift heavy objects, and do acrobatic maneuvers in athletic events. Men lose their hair as they age, and women experience extreme thinning of the hair. Our muscles fatigue faster, and our overall body weight can surge due to the lack of energy we have later in life.

But the one item that most people seem to care about as they age is their skin. Our skin becomes frail, delicate, and wrinkled. The collagen that used to help our skin stay supple when we were children is not as present, and the level of elasticity weakens as we age. One trait that our skin usually gets starting at adolescence is dark circles start to form under our eyes. While these unsightly circles, dark crescent-shaped and filled with dark fluids, are unsightly, they can be treated and drastically reduced in appearance. I'll lay out of a few tips and pointers for all of those of you who suffer from dark under eye circles, in hopes that you can reduce yours in appearance. Dark circles give off the impression that we live an unhealthy lifestyle or spend too many nights out partying, but sometimes that's not even the case.

1. Drink plenty of water. Water is the key to your body, even to it's biggest organ, the skin. Water needs to be consumed in massive amounts in order to stay hydrated, maintain energy levels, and keep our skin healthy. Try to consume one gallon of water each day to keep your body fresh and to flush out toxins. This is also a good way to avoid a hangover, if you were concerned about that. (Many people obtain dark circles because of excessive toxin consumption, including drinking and smoking.)

2. Get proper sleep each and every night. Proper sleep is different for everyone. Some people can live properly off of 5 hours of sleep each night. Others need 7 or 8 hours to function properly. The fact is, it's getting into a routine that is most important. If you sleep every night at 10:30, and all of a sudden you start staying out until 2 am each morning, but have to wake up for an event or something special, you are confusing your body. This is also causing stress, which is another factor that goes into why we get dark circles under the eyes.

3. Use an under eye serum. This could be your "medicine" if you will, to treat dark circles. Eye serums have become a staple in anti aging skin care routines that have really caught on in recent years. there are many serums that are formulated to treat dark circles by using a blend of soy and rice peptides as well as seaweed extract. Do a search on Google or visit your local beauty retailer to find an eye serum that could become part of your personal treatment of dark circles.

Now that you have all of the pertinent information to rid yourself of unsightly dark circles, go out and create a game plan. Stick to it, live healthy, and look fresher tomorrow!
