Dear friend, do you want to know how to take charge of your life like the director of a movie? Then read on.

In order to understand the way you respond to the experiences you have in your life, I’m going to use a metaphor.

Think for a moment, about a movie director. A director has a script at his disposal with many scenes in it. He has actors and actresses and a set on which the action takes place. He has camera and sound technicians who take care of recording all the action that takes place on the set. He also has, among other things, an editing room in which everything that was filmed can be reviewed, changed and re-shaped as needed.

The director chooses particular scenes from the script and films them. When the filming is completed, he steps into the editing room and reviews each of the scenes that have been filmed. Based on the overall theme and mission of the movie, the nature of all the other scenes that have been filmed, the details of the particular scene being reviewed, and the director’s intellectual appraisal of the entire project, the film is edited.

Dialogue and action are rearranged. Pieces of film are cut and spliced back together again in different combinations, music and sound effects are added. Special effects are added, etc, until the individual scenes, words and actions have been given a particular shape and are able to convey a particular message to the audience. The film is released to the public.

It’s the same way with the experiences you have in your life. Your life is very much like a movie. You can look at yourself as the director and also the actor or actress in the movie of your life.

You have many scenes in your movie called experiences. You have other actors and actresses in your film called mother, father, son, daughter, brother, sister, friend, boss, etc.

You have camera and sound technicians called the five senses and the subconscious mind that record all the action taking place on the set of your life. You also have an editing room called the conscious mind in which you review and make changes to everything the subconscious records.

As the director of the movie of your life, you choose to have particular experiences. Each experience is recorded by the subconscious. After it has been recorded, you review the experience in your conscious mind.

Based on the nature of all the other experiences you’ve had in your life, the details you observed in the current experience you’re reviewing and your intellectual appraisal of these experiences and details, you then edit the experience in your conscious mind. Dialogue and action are rearranged within your mind, just like in the movie editing room.

Now You Know Pass It On. Tell your friends and family.
Until next time, make this a week one in which you are living your life to the fullest.

With appreciation and gratitude
