Becoming a mum is something many women dream of, so if you have just realised you were pregnant, then congratulations! It surely is a big step in your and your partner's life, and you both might already be planning how to name the little one or how to decorate his or her room. However, there is something else that you should do - tell your parents, in-laws and friends the big news. And while some women can't wait to tell the world, there are others that are nervous and stressed out about their parents' reactions.

So if you are worried of how your parents will react when you tell them the big news there are a couple of ways in which you can do it.

In a Restaurant

Okay, I know this might not be the best place to share such a great news, but if you know that your parents will react badly and you want to avoid any ugly scenes, then picking a crowded place such as a restaurant could be a good idea. You can invite your parents (and your in-laws) for a brunch or dinner and tell them you are pregnant right before the dessert, for example. Of course I can't promise you that they won't make a scene, but they might feel uncomfortable lecturing you in front of many people.

While Cleaning

Right, I am aware that this sounds odd, but hear me out. According to end of lease cleaning specialists nearby Melbourne, people tend to be more relaxed while cleaning. So, go help her with the spring cleaning (if you are pregnant at that time) or call her to come and give you a hand with the cleaning at your home (most mums will melt at such invitation, since they love feeling needed). Don't be surprised if your mother drop the vacuum cleaner when she least expects to hear the news, though.

However, if you know that your family members would be happy for you and you want to tell them the big news in a funny way, here are some suggestions.

Do it at a Family Gathering

If you want to do it at a family get-together, one way of doing it is when you ask them to group for a family photo. However, instead of yelling "cheese", tell them to say "I am pregnant", then take a picture. I guarantee you there will be some amazing shots of confused and surprised faces.

Fortune Cookies

There are certain web sites that specialise in making personalised fortune cookies. So, ask for a fortune that would read "X and X are expecting a baby". Then simply call your parents and invite them for a dinner where you will be serving Chinese. After the dinner is over offer them one fortune cookie each and prepare for their reaction.

Other interesting ways include printing a t-shirt for you or your older child (if you have one). Or sending Christmas, Mother's Day or Easter cards to your parents saying "For Grandma and Grandpa" or something similar.

These are just some suggestions, but there are literally hundreds of other ways to tell everyone the big news. There is nothing to worry about and regardless of the initial reaction, you can be sure that your parents and your in-laws will all be thrilled.
