Some people cannot decide on what style or theme they want to follow throughout their homes. You know the type – every few years they go through the house, giving everything a new lick of paint, changing the flooring and adding to the décor in other ways. Surprisingly enough, you could breathe new life into an entire room, simply be repainting the bifold doors. Achieving this, however, is dependant on your colour choices.

When deciding on a colour for your room and bifold doors, it is important that you choose one that embraces the purpose of the room. Believe it not, colour can play a large role in our emotions, so choose wisely:

• Red: this is a very hot colour that is often associated with passion, lust, sex, energy, blood and even war. As it is such a strong colour, red should really only be used as an accent colour on bifold doors to prevent it from being overpowering.
• Orange: this is a bright and warm colour that is often associated with fire, the sun, fun and the tropics. It is said to increase oxygen supply to the brain and to stimulate mental activity, making it a great choice for study bifold doors.
• Yellow: this is an energetic colour that is often associated with youth, fun, happiness and sunshine. If the colour is too dark, however, it quickly becomes associated with being scared or cowardly.
• Green: this is a natural colour that is often associated with growth, fertility, money, safety, military and banking. It is said to have healing qualities, so is perfect for use on bifold doors in doctor’s surgeries.
• Blue: this is a calming colour that is often associated with loyalty, strength, wisdom and trust. The only area where you should not use blue on bifold doors is the kitchen, however, as it suppresses the appetite.
• Purple: this is a luxurious colour that is often associated with royalty, nobility, prestige and magic. It is often combined with gold on bifold doors to promote a sense of extravagance.
• Black: this is a powerful colour that is often associated with evilness, depression, scariness and death (when used by itself). When used in conjunction with other colours, however, it makes a striking statement.

When choosing what colour to paint your bifold doors, it is important to choose one that will go with the flow of the room, go with the flow of the overall house, and will promote the sort of theme we want. If you are painting your bathroom’s bifolds, for example, you might want to go for blue (because it’s calming) or green (for it’s healing qualities). Choose a door colour carefully and reap the emotional benefits.
