I hear the complaint that good help is hard to find. That has not been my experience. I find that good help is easy to select, Finding good employeesbecause once you identify who you are as a company and the type of environment your company offers, it becomes very easy to determine whether a potential employee is a good candidate to engage.

How do you go about finding the right person who will fit into your company? In my business, we meticulously designed exactly how each role fit into our company. For each role, we spent time determining and documenting very specifically what values a person should bring, what they should be best at doing, and the tasks they were going to be responsible for.

Before you hire, take a moment to be specific in defining the tasks and type of employee that would be best. If you have someone already in the position, I urge you not to base the type on them, instead base it on the requirements of the role.

Often employers hire good people, but they do not have a specific defining role for them. That is cause for concern and potentially catastrophe. If you do an excellent job of designing how someone will interact within your business, you will be able to ensure that you will find somebody that is aligned with those tasks. This means they will employees producing effectivelylove their job and reduce turnover and problems for you.

To be able to design a role, it important to understand precisely how things are done to bring value to your customers. Frequently, business owners have an idea of how things get done, but do not track what they do or what their employees do throughout to achieve the end result. To be an effective and efficient operator of a business, it is important to understand the workflow process: how people interact, the repeated actions of great customer service, and deliverability of an incredible product.

By understanding work flow and the type of people needed to fulfill roles, an individual can be well chosen, they can be confident, they will be positioned to do well, and the business owner will be much more satisfied.
