Making the Law of Attraction Work for You, the Column- Part 2

By Steve Taylor

Hello friends! I hope that you are finding the pursuit of the Law of Attraction to be a fun and challenging experience. You and I both know that creating positive change is not the easiest task to accomplish, so it is normal to run into a few roadblocks along the way. Moving out of a comfortable psychological routine, also called a rut, is usually the challenge that we face. With perseverance and faith you can move forward with great results! Just keep in mind that this is a marathon, not a sprint. With that said, let’s get into our discussion about the second step in making the Law of Attraction work for you.

Your Personal Feng Shui
To review, we should have our visioning board created and posted in a place that we see it multiple times a day. We have also started to carve out a few minutes of quite, contemplative time in our daily schedule. Now, let’s move on to a bigger challenge. How do we harness the power of Feng Shui in our personal life so that it helps us gain a better connection with the power of the Law of Attraction?

Feng Shui Basics
The essence of Feng Shui is to bring harmonious energy into one’s life by allowing a free flow of these energy forces in your environment. There are five Feng Shui elements affecting the energy flow. These are metal, fire, earth, water, and wood. For the purposes of this column, I will say that there is a clear benefit to incorporating articles from each of the elements into your living space. The tried and true method is to arrange your living space in such as way as to reduce clutter, improve sight lines, the flow of light and energy into your living space. Clearing out the clutter in your living space is the key to improving the level of Feng Shui energy in your living space. Adding a piece of furniture or accessory from each elemental group, amplifies the power of Feng Shui.
The challenge with improving your personal Feng Shui is to make changes to improve your lifestyle. If we invest the time to improve four lifestyle categories, we will be on our way to improved personal Feng Shui and bringing the Law of Attraction into our life.

The 4 Critical Lifestyle Changes
The four-lifestyle categories that need to be addressed are outlook, exercise, vitamin supplements, and diet.
Outlook- Successful engagement of the Law of Attraction requires that we make a commitment to help others achieve their dreams, goals, targets for the day, while we work to enhance our own. When we engage in the activity of serving others, our level of personal grace, gratitude for the opportunity to be of service, and a sense of fulfillment become abundant in our lives. Just make a conscious effort to be an active listener to friends and family to determine when and how you can offer assistance to them in some meaningful way. Engaging the Law of Attraction is not a “me-first” activity.

Exercise- Please turn-off the television and stop watching all of those reality shows. You are now engaged in changing your own reality! But, if you can’t turn the television off then start exercising with dumbbells while you watch your favorite show(s)-lifting daily for muscle tone in the upper body. Make this a fun time by lifting each night to your favorite shows and change the muscle group focus of your reps for each show. After television, walk to tone the legs and abdomen. By the way, walking is one of the world’s best exercises next to swimming. Can you walk the mile to the grocery store on a Saturday morning instead of driving? How about walking with a friend for a half-hour, right after work? The process of engaging a friend or relative in this friendly activity is an important social outreach activity as well and improves our sense of belonging and personal wellbeing. The reduction in stress, improved cardiovascular fitness and improved mood gained from this one lifestyle change, is amazing!

Diet- If I could help you that you could shave off 1,000 calories per day with a simple adjustment in food choices, would you listen to this advice? Come on, listen up! If you eliminate the whip-cream topped, flavored Latte in the morning (700 calories- the villain is the flavored syrup)- go sugar-free with the syrup if you can’t do without your latte. Having a salad for lunch? One extra dollop of salad dressing on the lunch salad (250 cals. per 2 tbsp serving), the problem is the fat calories derived from the regular dressing. Use fat-free dressings instead. Finally, eliminate the two regular sodas in the late afternoon (150 cals. per 12 oz. can). Boomer women have to be very careful to avoid the bleaching effect of calcium from your system that drinking large amounts of carbonated soda can cause. Instead, drink the new vitamin fortified-juice and water drinks like the “Fuze” brand of 10-calorie drinks. Replacing these dietary snack-traps with grapes, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries, or eating raisins or an apple at your desk, can quell that urge for something sweet during the workday, Voila, you have accomplished your 1,000 calorie daily reduction goal in just one-week! Can you say I have dropped two dress sizes or 2 belt sizes in a month, with a smile on your face?

The Super Six Dietary Vitamin Supplements- Keep in mind that the FDA does not allow us to make prevention claims for nutraceuticals or supplements. Therefore, consider the following list as advisory only. Since our commercial food supply no longer provides us with the requisite nutrients that they once did due to our consumption of packaged foods, irradiation for disease control and our snack craze, taking dietary supplements is a must for AA Boomers. The super six that every AA Boomer should have on their nightstand for daily consumption are: 1) Vitamin D3, the silver bullet for African American Baby Boomers with a family history of cancer, osteoporosis, and diabetes. A minimum of 5,000 I.U’s per day is a must for every African American Boomer, 2) Oat Bran to help lower cholesterol and normalize the colon, 3) Resveratrol is a cancer fighting, diabetes fighting, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, 4) Green Tea extract is a powerful mood modulator and anti-oxidant, 5) COQ10 is used to manage fibromyalgia, heart disease and improve energy, 6) Enteric coated Omega-3 fortified with EPA and DHA. The enteric coating prevents the fish-oil burps, thus improving compliance and improves absorption.

Now that you are truly engaged in creating a positive energy flow by improving your personal Fung Shui, great things are in store. You should feel the difference in your mood and energy levels quickly. Next week, we will talk about the power of positive relationships and the impact of negative ones as they relate to harnessing the power of the Law of Attraction.
