English Premier League transfer market updates

Manchester City rejects offer from Corinthians for Carlos Tevez and analyzes transferring Emmanuel Adebayor to Tottenham Hostspur on loan.

Newly signed Chelsea head coach, Portuguese Andre Villa-Boas, is submitting his players to a strong disciplinary regime according to English defender and team captain John Terry. That menthod gave him great results with Porto and opened the Blues’ doors for him, reason why Villa-Boas will continue true to his style in the English Premier League.

Besides the Portuguese coach two more players have been signed: 17-year-old Brazilian offensive midfielder Lucas Piazon, for whom £ 6.600.000 was paid to Sao Paulo, and 19-year-old Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois from Genk for £ 7.920.000.

Up to £ 35 more could have been reported if the Citizens wouldn’t have rejected Corinthians proposal this week, and it is still to be found out how much will Emmanuel Adebayor’s loan will cost to Totteham Hotspur in case they received the approval.

City rivals Manchester United are the ones that report the highest investment in new players this season with a total of £ 50.424.000 as of press time. Although their most recent title championship didn’t take place as long ago as the Reds’, Arsenal also wants to put an end to a streak of six winless seasons, something that will require a bigger investment that what they are used to.

The Gunners are maintaining their characteristic low profile with only £ 11.550.000 mostly destined in 24-year-old Ivorian striker Gervinho, who reported £ 10.560.000 in income to his former club Lille. The rest of the money was invested in Carl Jenkinson from Charlton, who is 19 and plays as right defender.

August 31st is the deadline for the transfer market, therefore more movements are expected, those that usually shake the market, like a possible arrival from Atletico de Madrid’s sticker Sergio Kun Aguero to Manchester City would represent, or Javier Pastore’s from Palermo transfer to Chelsea.
