In this article we are going to explore how the day-to-day demands of life can take away our focus from our true goals and passions. When we recognize the signs of being swept away by the demands of the day we can refocus our energies back towards the fulfillment of our goals.

We have all felt what it’s like being distracted by the demands of the day. There always seems to be something that demands our time and attention. These activities often take priority over our personal goals leaving us feeling distressed and wondering when we will get the time to sit down and properly work on building our dreams. This feeling of despair is normal for most on building our dreams. This feeling of despair is normal for most people and is one of the key reasons people give up on their goals - they just don’t have the time. However, if we begin to recognize these signs of the shuffle, we can take the appropriate actions to regain power back over the completion and fulfillment of our goals. We can invest the time and energy on building and growing our relationships. We can begin achieving our goals and building our dream brick by brick. On the other hand, if we just allow the shuffle to push us from left to right, we will be powerless to do anything about it. Our relationships will pay the price through neglect and abandonment. And our goals will just be a vague notion of something we wanted to do once. 

The shuffle effects all aspects of our lives. When we are at work, we’re thinking about our kids and our family. When we’re at home, we’re thinking about work and our career. It seems there is no end to the amount of activities that require our attention. It seems like we are never given the opportunity just to be present with our kids, or, just to focus directly on our work. It feels like the chaos of life is blowing us around like chaff in the wind. We can however do something about it.

 

Organizing and separating your time is the most effective way to ensure you have full power over where your focus is and upon which task it is concentrated. You can do this by setting a routine or schedule for your household. If you do this, you will have the quality time you need for your family. You will have the time to be productive at work and on your business. And you won’t feel like everything around you is falling apart. Learning how to be productive and managing your time is the best way to achieve this result, and below is an exercise that will transform a chaotic life into a structured life with purpose, intention, and meaning.

 

Exercise:

1. Establish a definite sleeping pattern.

2. Establish definite meal times in your household.

3. Establish time for health and exercise.

4. Create a morning ritual for your household.

For example; 6:30 - 7:00 am kids and parents showered and dressed,7:00 am - 8:00 am prepare and consume nutritious breakfast, 8 -9:00 am see kids off to school, prepare mind for the day’s work etc

5. Establish definite family time where all electronic devices are turned off for at least 1 hour per day.

6. Establish time to spend with your partner

7. Establish time to work on your goals

Creating a routine such as the one outlined above may take a period of weeks or even months before it becomes a habit. However, do persevere as the rewards you will receive over the coming weeks, months and years will be truly life changing. Try setting a goal of a new routine for 90 days that meets the needs of your family, career, health, lover, and personal growth. Always evolve and tweak the routine until it feels just right.
