In the spirit of preparing for a workshop about goal setting, I would like to share with you how you can set goals not only to know what you want to reach at some point in life, but also to use them as a study and work motivation or to get into a better mood whenever you are down!

I bet all of you know, that when you set goals, they should be SMART! Smart stands for: SMART = Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely.

However, just writing goals on a piece of paper and forgetting about them isn’t the best way to be motivated or even remember them. You have to make your goals creative, fun and visible.

Have you ever considered summarizing your goals on a vision board, or even creating a life movie? When creating a vision board or life movie, you should use phrases that start with: “I am…”, “It’s like me to…”, ” I feel like…”. Putting your goals in present tense make them more realistic and you embrace them more into your current self and therefore they will become your future self. Believe in your goals and trust that they will become reality. The more you trust the universe the sooner you will reach that goal. You become the person you wish to become. Also, by summarizing all your goals on a vision board or a life movie, you know exactly what you are looking for, which it is easier to find it. It all starts with visualization!

You should take your time when creating a vision board or life movie! Get all your thoughts straight and know what you want!

1) Start by writing motivating phrases that start with: ”I am…”, “It’s like me to…” and ” I feel like…”. Figure out what you like about yourself and how you would like to be in the future! Are there things that you would like to implement into your future?

2) Continue with finding pictures. Use pictures of the person you are right now and pay attention to the characteristics you like about yourself already and those you want to keep, but also look for picture that could represent your future life. Just visualize your perfect life and know what you are working/studying for!

3) Create goals for different areas: school/academics, career, personal life, health & wellness. Know that all those areas are important and it’s best to keep a balance between all of them!

4) Start creating your vision board or life movie! To give you an example of what I am talking about, I posted my life movie in my video section. I decided to create a life movie because I found it more motivating to look at my goals while listening to my life’s soundtrack! I watch this movie every time I am down and forget why I am studying and why I am at University. It helps me to focus on what I am studying for! However, I also created a vision board, which is the first thing I see in the morning when I get out of bed.

So go ahead and start creating your own motivating goals!
