When you create a Facebook Fan page, it will be a dedicated fan page to promote your business. You could create your own profile for the business, but Facebook will take it away, removing all of your hard work, and thus, removing your business brand on Facebook
So, instead of creating a dedicated profile page for your business, you want to simply create a fan page. When you create a fan page, your customers and prospects get to know your brand, who you associate with, and it creates an avenue for exchange.
So first, think about the purpose of your fan page. If you are only creating your fan page to sell more product, then your fans will see right through that. The purpose of social media is connection, so you should be connecting with your fans, as opposed to simply trying to sell them.
So, with this in mind, you need to make it worth the visitor's while to become a fan to your Facebook fan page. People want to be compensated for their time, effort, or loyalty. To this end, this is why some businesses give out coupons, freebies, samples, deep discounts, or anything else to reward visitors for 'liking' their fan page. So, think about how you can reward your visitors for visiting your site.
Now that you have all of this in mind, its time to build your fan page. First, sign into your Facebook Account. Use the account tied into your fan page. Then, visit http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php.
Then, get creative in creating a fan page name that will appeal to your target audience. Did you know that Victoria's Secret didn't use the brand name, but they used the name of one of their brand divisions called Pink. The Pink division is a line of products that appeals to college aged young women. Since this is who they want to attract on Facebook, they created a fan page named Pink.
Now that you've completed this, upload a great picture of the product,or the service that you have in mind. Of course, this product or service is your logo of sorts. It will represent the brand.
Then, add some text to the info tab. You can use the text from your About page, or you can add text from your blog, using the RSS feeds. This imports new blog post to your Facebook Fan page. If you want to create a custom landing page, then try Static FBML. Use the search bar to find it and on the left hand side, click ‘Add to My Page.’
This will add an application to your page that allows you to post raw HTML code and have it display correctly to your fans. Don't get lazy with your fan page; update it two to four times a week, or more, so that you always have fresh content, and so that your fans will continue to support you.
