Start this new year reinvention off right by eating more often! Seriously! It increases your energy simply by keeping your blood sugar levels even, and your metabolism revved! But don't just eat junk food more often. It needs to be quality food, and around 200 calories every 2 hours.
Aim for those 8 hours of sleep each night, and you'll start losing weight. Sleep deprivation does two things to keep you plump: first, it releases the stress hormone cortisol which keeps fat firmly in place, and secondly you crave high sugar foods and tend to overeat when you are tired. Sleep deprivation also makes you really, really tired, don't ya know?
Fruits and vegetables rock the food-energy world, so start chowing down. They taste great with some added fat and salt- despite the diet naysayers, you really need to add some fat to vegetables or you aren't getting all the nutrients out of it. Plain broccoli or broccoli sautéed in a little butter with some salt and pepper: Which sounds tastier to you? If you already eat and like raw veggies, as I do, then continue to do so. But if "rabbit food" isn't your bag, jazz 'em up!
Get jazzed up about your reinvention by pulling out an old clothing item you no longer can wear, or buy something you want in a smaller size. Put it somewhere visible! This will keep you going by reminding you of your goal every day!
Sugar is a sure-fire weight-gain tip. Want to gain weight effortlessly? Eat processed sugar, and lots of it.
Also, if you are sick of being happy and energized, and want to just play the exhausted-at-the-end-of-the-day game, processed sugar is the only way to go! It will jack with your metabolisim and blood sugar, leaving you grumpy, plumpy, and tired-umpy.
Just hang out by the vending machine and you're golden.
Think tall and thin, small and round: When pouring drinks other than water, think Tall and Thin for your glasses. This will give a psychological boost and your brain will visually think you are getting more than you are. Same with using small and round dinner plates- it's much easier to eat more than you need when using a huge plate to load your food on.
Drink water! If you are dehydrated, or eat a lot of processed foods, you are probably eating too much salt, and this means water weight. Ironically, to lose water weight, you need to drink more water. Being dehydrated also ensures fatigue- just a 2% dip in hydration causes mental dullness and feeling sluggish.
Hey, I understand that water can be a little boring to drink, so mix it up a little by having some green tea. You'll still get the hydration of drinking the water, plus the tea will rev your metabolism and energy levels at the same time. Hey, you get a host of antioxidants, too, so break out the tea cups!
