While developing my Symbol Linking Meditation Journey script, entitled Harbor House, I found myself sitting in a beautiful garden. It was Spring and the garden was in full bloom with beautiful tulips, daffodils and jasmine. I felt peaceful and content and waited for one of God's Creatures to come and give me a message.

In this tranquil setting came a Butterfly. All I could see was a pair of big beautiful wings fluttering up and down...up and down...landing on the very tip of my nose! No "message" was forth coming, but I knew that the Butterfly had a message for me, I just had to find it. I went in search for the meaning of "Butterfly"...what did it symbolize? Here is what I found.

Among the Ancients, the Butterfly is an emblem of the SOUL and of the UNCONSCIOUS attraction toward the LIGHT. In Greek myth the Butterfly is a symbol of the PSYCHE, and as the Greek name indicates, the Butterfly, like the bird, is the symbol for the human SOUL. In it's "flightiness" it resembles elves, genies, cupids, pixies and fairies...just like Dream or fantasy figures are often depicted with Butterfly wings, as is HYPNOS, the God of Sleep (Latin-Somnus).

In many cultures the Butterfly means Beauty, Rebirth and Transformation, shedding the cocoon to be released into freedom.

After reading and research on the Butterfly, I felt that the "message" was clear and chose the BUTTERFLY as my Symbol for the Hypnotic work I do.

All of us have our own personal Symbols, and Symbol Linking is a Hypnotic technique disgned to access those symbols in the unconscious mind. It helps you to discover your full potential, uncover hidden strengths and talents, push through blocks and deal with issues that are holding you back from being your full self. It takes you out of the cocoon and helps you to become the BUTTERFLY!
