December's issue of Money Magazine reveals that profits generated from a hobby or leisure time activity averages between 3 to 7 thousand dollars a year! Now when you put the internet to work for you by sharing your hobby or passion with the world those amounts grow to over 5 to 10 times that amount. . . and more!

Most people dedicate the first two decades of their adult life to their children and families. Then as we meander our way through our 40’s, we realize that our children don’t need us as much and the family has finally begun to function on automatic pilot. (Well, sometimes anyways).

For the first time in eons we actually have a few moments for ourselves. We then begin to look at our lives from an entirely new perspective and ask ourselves that million dollar question, “What the heck do I do now?”

For way too many people, it can be extraordinarily difficult to “reinvent” themselves. It takes a lot of courage to change. Then, of course, where do you start? Your self-esteem and self-confidence can take quite a battering when you begin to contemplate what your skill set is and how you can translate that into a reinvention.

The bottom line it that it can be really hard to figure out what options exist, never mind sorting through possibilities and assessing the available opportunities.

People especially need to know that someone who understands is encouraging them along the path of reinvention. It gives them the motivation to continue to negotiate the obstacles, it gives them the self-confidence to pursue a dream that they have set aside for two or more decades, it gives them the courage to look beyond what they somehow have come to believe as their rather limited abilities.

Many people wrestling with this transition phase of their lives sell themselves far short of what they truly can do and the vast array of skills they have to contribute!

People can truly help each other through these life changing transitions times just by being there for each other.

With a 30 plus year career in human services, I have come to realize that many times it is the simpler forms of help that can be the most effective in inspiring others to reinvent themselves. It can be an idea, it can be encouragement, it can be occasional support with a quick question like; “How’s your job search going?”, “Is that weight loss plan working out for you?”, “Did enrolling in that course help you narrow down your career interests at all?”

Or if you have the opportunity to provide a more tangible form of inspiration, that is also great way to help as well. For example, when I embarked on an adventure to build a website, I received a ton of support and advice from other people who were creating their own online ebusiness. They helped guide me, taught me the ins and out of transforming my first eLearning website on anti-aging skin care into a growing online business.

Now I have built a second website, web-site-building-tips.com, which is dedicated to helping others interested in building their own ebusiness. It’s my way of giving back a very tangible form of support, just like I received and welcomed when I ventured into starting an online business.

It has turned out to be a really fun and rewarding way to help others, especially people, start building a business of their own.

The feedback from people has been absolutely astonishing to me. Whether they win the free website contest or not, they tell me that simply by taking advantage of entering the contest has given them a entirely new perspective on the incredible range of opportunities available to them out in the cyber world.
