Generally, these events will occur at independent banquet halls, resorts, or hotels.  Being a banquet manager, they are usually responsible for the facility, the staff, and the events.  Some of their many duties can include:

You may find yourself working long hours, which could mean twelve or more hours a day.  It all depends on the type of banquet that is being held, the venue, the number of guests, and food that is being served.  Many times, they will also be responsible for the wait staff.  They are also responsible to make sure that everything is kept to the right temperature, that if on a buffet everything is kept full and neat and clean, that there is plenty of plates, silverware, etc.

The education you need may be as simple as a high school diploma with on the job training but some may require that you have an associates or bachelors degree in hospitality.  In this field, there is also room for advancement.
