1. Know who’s going to plan the event.
It is important that you have someone to organize and plan the event. It can either be you, a relative, or a friend. Two or more people can help to make the task easier. Each should have a clear understanding of his duties and responsibilities.
2. Decide on the date, time, and place of the baby shower party
When planning to have a baby shower, it is best to talk to the expectant mother and her partner. Ask their opinion on when they wish to celebrate the event. If most of the guests have work during weekdays, hold the event on weekends. If you are planning to have it on weekends, mid-day is usually the preferred time. Have the party at night-time if the event is going to take place on weekdays. As for the place, most baby shower events are held in the house of the hostess. But if you have a huge budget, you can either choose to have it on a restaurant or a private resort; just make sure that you make reservations as early as 8 weeks before the party.
3. Choose a theme for the party.
Planning a baby shower becomes easier when you have a theme for the event. It helps you decide and plan on invitations, foods, decorations, games, party favors, etc. Do not forget to ask the expectant couples about their preferred theme for the party.
4. Make a Guest List.
The expectant mother and father are the ones who should list the guests for the baby shower. Make sure that you have the address and phone number of each person included on the guest list. These will help you in mailing the invitations and updating the guests about the party.
5. Prepare the invitations.
In preparing the invitations, do not forget the four important details that you need to include. These are the names of the expectant parents, date, time, and place. When mailing the invites, make sure that you include when and where to RSVP, as well at the directions to the baby shower party.
6. Plan the food menu and beverages for the party.
Consider the number of guests attending the party, as well as the time when the party will be held. Decide on what foods to serve during the baby shower. You can have finger foods, cupcakes, and cookies. Stick to non-alcoholic drinks like fruit juices and sodas.
7. Arrange the tables, chairs, and utensils on the day of the baby shower.
Make sure that you have enough tables and chairs to accommodate all your guests. Prepare table napkins, condiments, and utensils. Make sure that all the foods and beverages are ready on the buffet area. And lastly, do not forget to have fun.
