Often, we have seen colorful tapes that athletes at a Volleyball game or a bicycle race are found wearing across their backs, knees, shoulders, and abs. While some of us thought that this was for some cosmetic or aesthetic purposes. However, as it turns out, these are in fact known as Kinetic tapes.

Also known as the Kinesiology tape or Kinesio Tex tape, the Kinesiology tape was developed by Dr. Kenzo Kase in the late 1970s. The main purpose of the Kinesiology tape is to lessen the pain, offer support, improve swelling and help enhance the performance. Though the reviews of this tape have been quite impressive, however, a lot is yet to be discovered in the area.

How Does a Kinesiology Tape work?

The Kinesiology Tape is made from a blend of cotton and Nylon as this is the closest to the human skin’s original elasticity. The tape consists of medical adhesive to ‘stick’ over the affected area and is water-resistant in nature. Once applied over the skin, a slight microscopic space is created between the skin and the underlying tissues, as the tape ‘lifts’ the skin as it undergoes a recoil action.

According to a recent study, it has also been observed that the K-tape also helped create a slight gap between the joints, which helps in pain reduction. The M7 tape also helps change the pain pathways, hence reduces the perception of pain. This is done by creating a lift from the underlying tissues, thus unloading the pain. Once decompressed, the injured tissues send a different signal to the brain and get a different response in return. This way the general feel of pain is deferred or even reduced.

Plantar Fasciitis Wrap

Plantar Fasciitis is a situation where inflammation occurs on the band of tissue that lies between the toes and the heel bone. This is accompanied by stabbing pains that occur near the heels, which gets worse during the early hours of the morning. This condition worsens when the person spends long hours standing, jumping and running.

In the case of Plantar Fasciitis, a wrap known as the plantar fasciitis wrap is used to ease the pain. This M7 tape offers support at the arch of the feet which helps in relaxing the foot by decreasing the inflammation. The plantar fasciitis wrap has found an important place in the field of Physiotherapy and other sports injury related studies.

Kinetic Tape For feet

Also known as the M7 tape or the Kinetic tape for feet; the kinesiology tape is widely used for the treatment of foot injury. Here the tape is used to pull-away the tense skin and remove excess tension from the tissues below. If prescribed, you will require specialized assistance for the first time. Once you have learned the technique to wrap the M7 tape properly across and around your injured foot, you will have no problem doing it yourself.

M7 Pro tape precut

These are lightweight M7 tapes that are widely used by athletes to treat their injuries. Most might not know, but it is a fact that the M7 pro tape precut has found a permanent place in the sports bags of many athletes. These are used in various applications like shin splints, wrist pain, tennis elbow, and knee pain. These tapes have an elastic core with a strong adhesive which helps ease the pain due to sports injury. The best part about the M7 pro tape precut is the fact that these are easy to use anywhere by anybody who has a basic knowledge about their usage. These are also used as ankle brace for sports, as they help in relieving tension in the muscles and tissues thus, avoiding injury.
