Do you find yourself feeling envious of comedians like Chris Rock or Robin Williams; they have such a gift, to be able to make people laugh. You might find yourself thinking, “It must be so wonderful to have the ability to have that talent. I wish I was able to have access to that part of myself.” The truth is, you can. It is a common misconception that there are the creative or right-brain people, and then there are the logical, or left-brain people. The truth is we all have a left side of the brain, and a right side of the brain. Therefore, we are all capable of accessing either side. So, if you have thought being a creative genius is out of your reach, think again. Here are some easy and fun ways to access your creative energy:

1. Read more fiction. A good novel is ripe with complex characters, and unique plot twists. You might have to experiment with different authors to find one that jibes with you—that’s what those benches in the bookstores are for. Read through the first few paragraphs; if you feel yourself riveted to the open book in front of you, great! It’s even better if you find yourself smiling or laughing. Try not to pick something that is going to open up the dark side of your personality. There are many wonderful, funny novels are here. Check out books by Carl Hiassen. If written well, the story will take you on a journey, which will last long after you read the last page.
2.Write an autobiography (sort of). Write a brief story of your life. Start with an outline, your childhood, high school, college, relationships, jobs, etc. But as you begin to fill in the details, embellish it a little. Create a childhood for yourself that is a little more daring, and strengthen parts of yourself that your more detailed eye would have criticized. This is your chance to write about the real you, the you that has been buried underneath years of insensitive remarks, and hostile attitudes. Give yourself a life worthy of the divine spirit that you are—right now. Finally, give yourself a fabulous future, living the life of your passion.
3. Do something you have never done before, something that you have always wanted to do. This could cover a wide variety of things: take a salsa lesson, go sky diving, start a conversation on an elevator with a stranger, get yourself a puppy, join a dating service, write a how-to book, learn a language, etc. Really dig deep, and write them down in the order that you would most like to have that experience. Check them off as you go.
4.Go see more live performances. We all resonate with different forms of entertainment. Some love a beautiful ballet while others enjoy a raunchy stand-up comic. Explore different live venues. Keep an open mind, and let yourself be swept up in what is happening on stage. When you are inspired you are tapping into your creative genius. When you start to connect to the performer on stage, you are becoming connected to the performer in you.
5.Express less judgment, and more gratitude. Our judgments block the flow of creative energy. When you notice that you are having an adverse reaction to someone or something, stop and breathe. Acknowledge your discursive thoughts, and replace them with more supportive ones. Instead of saying, “That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.” Try saying, “Wow. That’s interesting, I never would of thought of looking at it from that point of view.” When you change your thinking into one of gratitude you are telling the universe that you are a being that is aware that life is constantly giving you gifts. The more you put this out there, the more wonderful stuff will keep showing up for you.

When you allow yourself to have fun with life, you will be actively creating a more fulfilling existence. This is the ultimate in creativity. The universal law of attraction will support you every step of the way. Just stay open, and be grateful. Practice the suggestions listed in this article, and before you know it, your creative genius will be your constant companion.
