Believe it or not, the ultimate place for copy samples is the National Enquirer. To demonstrate why, I'll ask you a question: which American newspaper pays it's writers the most money? What would you guess? The USA Today, Wall Street Journal, New York or Los Angeles Times? Those would be good guesses, but all wrong. You probably already guessed that the answer, of course, is the National Enquirer.

Why would the National Enquirer pay so much money for copy writing? Because good copy sells. It sucks prospects in. And you have to admit, when you're standing in line waiting to pay for something, it's hard to resist the seedy, loud headlines of the Enquirer. Heck, the cover alone has kept me pretty well informed about the whole soap opera of Brad and Angelina. Wow.

But if you take a closer look, there's a ton of psychology behind the neck turning headlines of the Enquirer. As a matter of fact, you should seriously consider actually looking INSIDE the paper (gasp!). I know, what would the neighbors think. But as a blogger or internet marketer, you can learn a lot just from the titles. Here are some actual examples:

-Jessica's dad: no mo Romo!
-Idol star driven to succeed by murdered friend
-Runway star arrested over cat fight!
-Autopsy report: Blunt impact killed Natasha
-Rihanna's brother vows revenge on Chris Brown
-Leann Rimes cheating scandal
-Angela Jolie "busted"
-2 more celebs hospitalized!
-Chaotic scene: Octo-mom brings home 2 babies
-How Jen dumped John
-Miley Cyrus: poisonous?
-Top model riot in NY
Ro-Pat panic attack
-DJ AM wants $20 mil...

Every one of these copy samples was carefully thought out by a highly paid professional copy writer. Each one is crafted to build curiosity, create interest, grab our attention, and suck us in. And you have to admit, you probably want to know the rest of the story on some of these, right?

So next time you need to write a blog headline or article, just scan the National Enquirer for copy samples and inspiration. Wait, did I just use the words "National Enquirer" and "Inspiration" in the same sentence? Ouch. But you get the idea.
