Ever since I was a child growing up in Brooklyn, the idea of growing old was repulsive to me. How did this happen at such a young age?
When I was only five years old, my mother, a Russian immigrant would take me with her to a steam room in Brighten Beach. There her friends would gather, and speak about their native countries, while, naked, they would scrub their bodies in the scorching steam.
The only child in the room, I crouched down to escape the heat, and also to hide from what I viewed as, "fat, ugly, smelly, old ladies." I vowed then and there that I would never get old.
Well, we all know that my childhood promise to myself was impossible to fulfill. However, when I reached my 50's and began aging, I thought back at my vow, and decided it was time to do something about the dreaded inevitably of turning into one of those steam room ladies.
Enter Dr. Deepak Chopra! Reading his inspiring "Ageless Body, Timeless Mind" bestseller was just the kicker I was looking for! I was magnetized and inspired by his writing, and went on to create my own concept of age reversal, which I called, "RetroAge."
Today, in my 70's I am a glowing example of a woman with an ageless body and a timeless mind, and I have gone on to inspire other women (and men too!) to take aging into their own hands, and emerge as vibrant, youthful individuals at every age.
It is my dream that just as Deepak's book inspired me, my latest book, "EXQUISITE AGING" will enrich other's lives. I even created a "Hattietude" to inspire my readers --
"The opposite of old isn't young...it's NEW!
