There is much written today in the life coaching world about the law of attraction. If you think and act positively then positive things will happen to you. There is much truth to the fact that we really are attracting positive and negative things into our life everyday by our conversations, our interactions, and even our demeanor. A person that acts and speaks negatively will no doubt repel positive people. After all, who wants to be around a negative person? The old expression, “misery loves company” is really true”!

What most people probably don’t understand is that the law of attraction really isn’t anything new, in fact you might say, it is a Biblical principle. In the book of Proverbs, we read about this thing called “favor.” I like to call it God’s Law of Attraction. Favor is this undeserved grace or open door that suddenly happens to us when we did very little to make happen. It is somewhat like being at the right place at the right time. It is having someone really like you, believe in you and open unexpected opportunities for you. Have you ever experienced that? That is favor! In Proverbs 3:3-4, we read the key to finding favor.....

“Let love and faithfulness never leave you; Bind them around your neck. Write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will find favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.”

God’s law of attraction for you and I is to have favor. The way to receive favor is to pursue a lifestyle of love and faithfulness! Don’t let love and faithfulness leave you! When you do a Hebrew word study on the meaning of love and faithfulness, you find they have similarities. They both have the element of steadfastness. The word for love means steadfast love, mercy, loving-kindness, faithfulness, goodness, devotion. The word for faithfulness means steadfast, endure, faithfulness, to be true, to trust.

So in summary, you might say that the person who finds favor with God and man is the person who is loving, kind, faithful, devoted, steadfast and trustworthy. They are faithful. They are no doubt the kind of people that others want to be around because they are loving and kind, and also trustworthy. They mean what they say and say what they mean. Their word is their bond. They can be counted on to fulfill their obligations. A long time ago men and women didn’t have written contracts. Their word was their creed and it was good enough!

Want favor to show up in unexpected places and times? Want God’s law of attraction to work for you? A better question to ask is what kind of person are you becoming? Are you becoming more loving and more faithful in your interactions with people? Do you genuinely care about people and want to see them succeed? Do you follow through with commitments? Are you trustworthy? Is your word your creed and bond? Can you be counted on? Do you deal with people in a loving and kind way? Do people like you and want to be around you? Do they trust you?

It is true that people generally don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care! Gifts and talents are great but without character to sustain them they are just a flash in the pan. What you give out does have a way of coming back to you or finding you.

All of us no doubt could use a little more favor in our life. I believe we could use God’s law of attraction to work for us. Love and faithfulness do seem to be important keys. Want more favor, more opportunities? Steadfast character, love and faithfulness open doors for favor and, more importantly, a good name in the sight of God and men. What could be better than that?
