If you have tried to eliminate a bad habit, you know how difficult change can be. Your good intentions fall apart as you try to eliminate overeating, procrastinating, negative thinking or being disorganized. Too often, as you proceed toward your desired outcome, you bump into internal resistance ...

Front doors are first impressions. Like initial meetings that show people to be spotless, boring, or a complete wreck, a home’s entrance can say a lot about what may be lurking inside. Yes, everyone can have their own interpretation of “clean” but there is a line to be drawn. So take note –don’t take chances. All kinds of people come to your front door from the mailman to the pizza delivery boy to the in-laws and even if they’re only making a delivery they should at least co
“Teach me to dance...” So goes the line by the character Basil in Zorba the Greek after his friend Zorba has disastrously ordered a third log to shoot down their already-compromised zip line, publicly destroying what was left of the logging business both men had spent months creating.
Make your life a truly, divinely inspired one! Through daily conscious intentionality, your life has the ability to achieve unlimited potentiality. Using conscious intention to bring ourselves into wholeness allows for us to move into the realm of conscious co-creation. By taking time to honor the quiet, still voice within, the gift of our Soul's voice is heard and acknowledged. With your awareness placed centered in your heart, allow yourself to feel the energetic connection to your Soul.
What makes you, you? Think about that for a moment... There's probably a bunch of characteristics that come to your mind. Sometimes, the most basic of traits we overlook. For example, did you think about your gender, your ethnicity, or your age? We tend not to describe ourselves with these attributes because we don't want other people to judge our character or our personality based on these attributes. And, these are attributes that we may not have any control over -- we cannot change them, so we overlook them. One of my core traits is being an albino.
Have you ever had one of those days where the dust of today just doesn't seem to clear for tomorrow and where the emotional forecast is calling for more whirlwinds of irrational thoughts, perhaps mixed with some stress and/or anxiety, and bouts of crying, questioning, doubting , or worrying? You wake up and you are met with a new dawn but the prediction for it doesn't look much brighter than the the day before. Perhaps you are feeling the pressure and stresses of finances or a relationship, or that life is all work and no play, or you are facing an illness or someone you know is.
I have a true story I want to share with you. I love travelling and was planning a road trip to Arizona with my boyfriend who had just moved from Australia to be with me in Canada. He had never been to the United States and was anticipating the adventure. I had been to Arizona a few years back with a girlfriend and had fallen in love with the beauty of the desert.
I know a lot of people that are always preoccupied with what those around them are doing and what those around them are saying and because of this they can’t seem to get ahead with their lives. They get so stressed about everything that happens around them, about those situations and people that have nothing to do with them, those situations and behaviors that don’t even affect them. Why in the world would you care what others are doing with their lives, why in the world would you stress about their actions and behaviors?
One of the most profound spiritual teachers in life is Nature itself. Being in nature can bring calmness and centeredness and a relaxation found no where else. But nature can be an amazing mirror, inspiring and teaching us. When you learn to look closely, you'll recognize that the patterns in ...
It's funny how when we finish school we seem to stop celebrating our achievements. Some daycare centres have a little graduation before the children move into kindergarten.
How many parents really know how to properly raise their children? I personally believe that there are many parents out there who are really struggling. Just take a walk on the park and try to notice the interaction between the parents and their children. You will hear things like:”Stop that. Don’t do that. Don’t touch that. Don’t go there you will hurt yourself. Get back here you little devil. I told you not to get up there. I told you it can’t be done. It is impossible.
Your life will not get better if you don’t get better. The question is how to do just that. You can’t expect things to just happen without you moving a finger. If you want your life to get better, if you want to be happy you have to work on yourself. You can’t expect the world to change, you can’t expect those around you to change and you to remain the same. The world will not change if you don’t change. I know I have said it before, but it is true. Once you decide to change, once you will make those changes, the whole world will change with you.
Every email application has a specific advantage that magnetizes users towards it. In case of Outlook 2011 for Mac, there is no denying the fact that the application offers excellent emailing platform with the best features that a professional user can get. But as always, nothing in this world is perfect and so does the computer applications. On the one hand where Outlook 2011 offers accelerated benefits to the users, on the other hand the actuality that cannot be avoided is
Is anybody out there - especially in this day and age - not looking to create a more fulfilling, abundant life for themselves? To ask this question in a different way, are you completely happy with the direction your life is headed or is there room for improvement? I'm going to assume you said that there is room for improvement. I know I'm not going too far out on a limb making this assumption. After all, who doesn't want to get the most from life?
Day to day busy schedules at the office and home can leave one feeling as if his/her life has lost meaning. It’s like life has become all work and no play. Deadlines, emails, paperwork, appointments, taking care of others, as well as housework and yard-work can leave you feeling overworked, stressed, overwhelmed, exhausted and even empty. So how do we bring meaning back to our lives, if it was ever there to begin with? 1. Replenish yourself. Due to busy lifestyles at home and work, it’s important to take time to replenish yourself.
I was recently gifted with my great-grandfather’s original ordination papers and his preaching license! What makes these two documents so extremely special is they are dated back to 1919 and 1927! My great-grandfather’ name is Henry L. Williams and although I have not done a complete genealogy ...
Labyrinths have become part of spiritual practices for many people and cultures. Labyrinths are like mazes and are built in different designs and various ways. When walking through them they can represent your journey and ways to learn more about yourself, your life, and your relationships with others. It can deepen your connection to your emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing. The most basic metaphor for walking a labyrinth is that of your life’s journey. You walk through being mindful. You can envision your life’s goal or a challenge you might be facing.
Where does all the unwanted baggage come from? It accumulates from old mindsets and beliefs towards experiences in life. If not dealt with, they can turn into resentment, hurt, non-forgiveness, bitte ess, disappointment and anger etc. This way of thinking can create patterns and blocks that keep one stuck, and from being all they can be. The experiences may have seemed unpleasant, in fact, some downright awful.
There is a balance point between feelings, that when practiced, makes for harmonious relationships. We're not usually at that point, due to the masculine/feminine bent toward opposites poles in relationship to the way we use feelings, not feelings themselves. And it's this "use" where our communications about what we are really feeling breaks down, and so causes discord. When we use feelings to manipulate, instead of communicating our authentic feelings, then what happens is the truth is not being told.
Hi there everyone!! Knowing how important it is to have a good subject line, I was asking my friend Rick to help me choose the one that’s best for this week. He started off by disqualifying some of them: “I promise this will change your life” and “This will change your life, guaranteed” sounded too aggressive. And “This will change your life: courage, health, security, and freedom” was too much. Then I inquired about punctuation. An exclamation mark might be too bold, and “...” may come across as too needy.
Hey there everyone!! At nine years of age, I was going to a summer camp and having lots of fun. One day we to an outdoor swimming pool, and I just laughed it up, splashing and maneuvering my around. It wasn’t until I got home that night that I noticed I had huge sun burns all over my body. The next day, two huge blisters an inch tall each, materialized on my shoulders. I was in excruciating pain, and I couldn’t even lean back or go to sleep for several days. I would be peeling off layers of my skin for months to come. That was the day I realized what it means to be an albino.
One of my favorite movies is “Groundhog Day” (dir. Harold Ramos). It stars Bill Murray as the weatherman who keeps waking up to the same Groundhog Day over, and over, and over again. The movie has special meaning to me because, to me, the movie is about what I refer to as “everyday reinca ation.” Don’t worry, I won’t go too Buddhist on you. And, by the way… SPOILER ALERT!
You may have personally experienced, or just heard from other people, of the mental boost that they get from smoking. Perhaps, for a short period of time such boost may be true, however in the long run, the effect of the tobacco consumption may be more dangerous to your brain than what you have expected. If you want to better your brain’s well-being, you have to be aware of what affects your IQ.
The Bhagavad Gita says âthe course of karma is unfathomable.â And so it is. In Sanskrit the word karma means action. Sanskrit provides a precise vocabulary for this abstract field that can help us navigate through it with more assurance. Every action creates an experience, and the memory of that experience is referred to as samskara. They are the mental impressions or patterns formed by repeated experience. These are seeds of memories both in our personal and collective c
After interviewing 3,200 women in 10 countries, a 2004 study found that only 2% considered themselves beautiful, and nearly 50% believed they were too fat. Every summer I hear moans and groans as men and women alike consider putting on that swim suit. But, can how you feel about yourself actually affect your health?
You too can be inspired to live out your life dream, and in the same way as Oprah Winfrey is living out her particular dream. All of our dreams may be different, but the way to achieve them is, was, and always will be, the same! What if you could find out what that way is? You could then take ...
Recovered Dignity By Sandy Rodgers Common Ground April 6, 2009n I had the pleasure of presenting the workshop “Recovered Dignity, Anti-Stigma Campaign” today at Common Ground with a group of 35 consumers. Actually I had come to be placed on the calendar, only to find there was no Facilitator ...
So how do you eliminate emotional toxins? I really believe that if you are sharing your pain with somebody else, somebody you care about, somebody you trust, you are cutting the pain in half every time you do so. “Pain is life- the sharper, the more evidence of life.”Charles Lambr
In our busy and sometimes mixed up and stressful lives we can easily overlook what we love about our days, let alone ourselves. One of the things I hear most from others, my clients and myself, although I’m visiting this space much less these days, is how hard we are on ourselves. Whether it’s our appearance, or that we should have done a better job or be a better person, or we aren’t good enough, or we should be further ahead, or doubting our talents, abilities, or our capacity to love or be loved, or we should be beyond this behaviour or thinking, etc. The list is endless.
As we enter yet another year, the reality of so many people around the world seems to be getting harsher and more painful. And it truly bothers me! Each time I hear about the many challenges that we face as a society, whether it’s about the recession, high unemployment rate, unfulfilled relationships, financial struggles, or serious illnesses, it deeply touches my soul and makes me want to lend a helping hand. But help how?
Torsion springs are immediately identifiable to most people and are a typical sight in many kinds of applications. The saying "wound up tight like a coil" originated from this type of spring. They have uses in a variety of industries like construction, oil, recreation, healthcare, lawn and garden, furniture, hardware, electrical, consumer appliance, automotive, and farming. What Is A Torsion Spring A torsion spring is one of 4 main types of springs. These include compression
In the 2011 Stressed in America Findings published by the American Psychological Association (APA), New Yorkers, more than other Americans, cited willpower as the leading barrier to making lifestyles changes, including those that reduce stress. Furthermore, New Yorkers said making lifestyle and behavior changes required too much time and effort. It doesn’t have to be that way, but New Yorker may not realize what’s really going on.
With the financial crisis and the devastating economic uncertainties still lingering around, the majority of people are pledging to eliminate or drastically reduce their debt, increase their income, and/or build some financial security. One of the best advices I can give anyone right now is that you MUST have a “side business venture” going, no matter what your current employment status is and where your finances stand. At this point in time, absolutely no one is considered “safe”, therefore the smartest strategic plan is to create a profitable venture for you.
Because I have just returned from teaching Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) to a group of coaches in Singapore, I’m reminded of one of my favorite NLP processes- the As If Frame. Milton Erickson, my favorite healer of all time, created easily the most clever way around obstacles that arise in the human mind. If you know the history of hypnosis, you know that it has been used for thousands of years to diagnose and treat illness. However, there has been no formal record of the way this was done. I believe Milton figured it out. Here is my interpretation of this famous pattern.
Why do some people procrastinate when putting things off eats up their peace of mind and vitality? Most of us put things off because they are too difficult, time-consuming, or unpleasant. Yet putting them off results in more stuff to keep track of and worry about. The two types of motivationr Fundamental to dealing with procrastination is knowing how best to motivate yourself. Towards Motivation emphasizes the benefits of doing something, paying attention to the pleasant feelings, such as achievement, success, enjoyment, and status, experienced as a result of taking action.
It's time now for a review of the network marketing industry. There has been a lot of talk lately about network marketing so let's shed some light on the topic. Millions of people these days are starting a home based business in response to a still tight job market.
It can be challenging to maintain a positive outlook when you are in the midst of negative situations and/or people. With the increasing costs of living, natural disasters, wars, company closures, lay-offs, divorces, illnesses, addictions and adultery, to name just a few, it can put a real strain and struggle on a person’s attitude and life. In many conversations you can hear how hard, devastating, and disheartening things are for people and perhaps for you also. It becomes difficult to remain optimistic.
We are creatures of habit, and therefore we may forget that we have the ability to change our old patterns, behaviours, and mindsets. Whether it’s things from yesterday, a month ago, or a year(s) ago, it is possible to make some changes starting today. Maybe you have been putting off things until tomorrow that you can do today, or you’ve been waiting for something to happen before you take the next step(s), or some of your patterns or behaviours are so ingrained that you feel you can’t change them.
Do you set goals, perhaps make a vision board or focus on your hearts desires? The question arises, are you creating a fresh start with the same old thoughts, the same brain and the same membranes? Radical Gratitude is the bridge between where you are and the manifestation of your hearts desires. Gratitude is a way to clear the old thought patterns and transform you body/mind. Your conscious and subconscious thoughts help to create your reality. The only problem is that the subconscious triggers 40 million nerve impulses per second and runs 95% of the time.
How to become wealthy and successful is a topic that's been written about probably more than any other. It's regarded as an "evergreen" topic because man has always been enamored with discovering the secrets of how to live a successful, more abundant life. There have been many books written over the years on the topic of success and abundant living; many more than can be reasonably counted. And the future is sure to see many, many additional books of the same genre.
Many years ago I read a book that was one of the most eye-opening and personally impact-full books I've ever read - and I read all the time. It's by a man named Wally Minto and it's called The Results Book. I'd like to introduce you to some of his ideas. Understanding the power of Your brain ...
“There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made, and which, in its original state, permeates, penetrates, and fills the interspaces of the universe. A thought, in this substance, Produces the thing that is imaged by the thought. Man can form things in his thought, and, by impressing his thought upon formless substance, can cause the thing he thinks about to be created”. Wallace Wattles, “The Science of Getting Rich” Wallace Wattles, author of “The Science of Getting Rich”, says the first principle is thought.
A lot of the conversations I am having right now revolve around death and dying. This is of great interest to me because it is a subject near and dear. There is something quite liberating when we explore this subject in more depth. Over the years, I have become increasingly aware of the ...
Is success contrary to spiritual development? I just had a radio show on this topic and the answer is: obviously not! If you think about about it, what is success?
Many of us have realized by now that money does not make us happy. So how do we bring more happiness into our life? Well, the answer is simple. Not easy, but it is simple. Wise people know true happiness cannot be found in the material world. Happiness is a state of being that comes from ...
