No matter where you look today, the Catholic Church is center stage either on News Media or on the Newspaper banner. Provocative Headlines abound, Will the Catholic Church still be standing after this Priest Scandal?
Where amongst the cover-up, lies and deceit, can any truth be found? Will the Catholic Church, need either to close some of their Schools or Church’s to have the money for the victims of this abuse?
Where can the victims find Jesus’ Ministry being mirrored by this troubled Church Hierarchy?
Like any other opportunity for money, there always will be individuals present to cash in on it, no matter whose lives they ruin, the so called offending priest, along with his own family and friends. It will happen but, in the bigger picture there are so many victims who truly are victims of the heinous actions of those offending priests.
These individuals are not coming forward for only money but rather they want their offenders to have to answer to what they have done. Just as the victims own Church failed them back then, it does so in the present time having so many Bishops and Cardinals from the old guard still reining with cover-ups and absolute lies.
I saw this personally in Buffalo, NY where a Bishop Malone, on one hand would hold a prayer vigil for victims of priest abuse, and then was basically looking the other way regarding offending Priests. This publically came out in documents and audio tapes.
While picketing you truly hear unbelievable comments.
While I was out picketing to have my former Bishop Malone, resign, fellow Catholics would come up to myself and fellow picketer Dan, basically telling us we were the reason for the ruination of the Catholic Church.
Then another women took it to a whole other level when she whipped open her coat, she was carrying a cup of Holy Water and then proceeded to bless us sinners before her. To her, anyone revealing the truth of this matter was sinful, in having the gall to mention the former Bishops name on a picket sign.
The Blame Game continued focusing in on the victims of Priest Abuse
Other Catholics would voice their opinions that it was the actual victims of this abuse who were behind the efforts to bring down the Catholic Church. As children, these victims were literally the prey whether in the Sacristy, the Rectory, or even in their own Homes, they were unprotected from theses offending priests.
Some Catholics feel that with the former Bishop removed from his position that the issue of Priest sex abuse victims is over with. It might seem over for many but it certainly never will be over for all of those victims who truly were abused by priests. They certainly live with this day in and day out. For myself, I never will understand how those Bishops and Cardinals could look the other way on such awful repulsive behavior.
How can they live with what they have done? These priests seemingly have no conscience making it all the more perverse to ever understand. Then, having never been tried they have no sexual record and are free to move wherever they want, even if that means right next to a school or youth center or help out with weekend masses. Unfortunately, the possibilities are so numerous for them to resume their offending ways.
