Why would I need a coach for my life?

If you’re feeling stuck, or you have big dreams, or you feel dissatisfied with your current life, you might want a partner to help you move forward. Maybe you’re ready to start the next chapter in your life, but you’re not quite sure how to get there. Life coaching might be for you.

A life coach isn’t going to mess with your life or make you do things that you don’t want to. Your life is yours, and you stay in control of it. A coach will only help you get what it is that you say you want. Imagine if you had a genie who could grant you 3 wishes. Well, your coach can’t work magic and make things come true in a snap of the finger. But you will be surprised at how empowered you can become to actually get the things that you desire most in your life.

What is a life coach?

A life coach is someone who helps you reach a goal or make a change. They support and guide you for whatever it is that you’re seeking. Some people want a relationship, some people want a career they love, or to feel really confident. Whatever it is that you want, a life coach will help you get it.

You might not even know what you want. And that’s fine too. A life coach is here to help you discover what it is that you really want in your life. Maybe you don’t know what you’re passionate about, or what you’re put on this earth to do. You might not know your true calling or purpose, and that’s okay.

You’re life coach will help you find this out.

What does a life coach do?

A life coach can help you in whatever way you’re looking for. Maybe you want to be motivated or inspired. Maybe you need help making a decision, being held accountable, or finding out what you really want in life.

Every coach has a slightly different approach. They all come from different backgrounds, with different educations and histories. Therefore each one will coach you in different ways. Most will ask you lots of questions to get to know you, and then to get you to think and consider things in a new way.

Some coaches will use hypnotherapy, neuro-linguistic programming, meditation, visualization, and so forth. The tool and techniques that a coach will use with you are limitless.

Who needs a life coach?

Anyone who wants to reach a goal or make a change can make great use out of a coach. Especially if you’re feeling stuck.

Or it may just be that you’ve been pursuing one goal for a long time but have not made the progress that you’d like to. You can speed up progress and achieve that goal several times faster with proper coaching.

Perhaps you don’t have as much time as you want to in your life, or you want to feel more confident. A coach can help you in numerous different ways.

What should I expect if I work with a coach?

Every coach has different offerings. Some will talk with you for an hour every two weeks. Others will have session once a week for 45 minutes.

You can expect to learn a lot about yourself and what you really want in life. You also might prepare to have some major shifts in your perspective and the way you view problems or challenges in your life.

Is coaching like therapy?

Yes and no. I say yes, because many coaches come from a therapist background and they usually use similar probing and listening skills that a therapist would.

Unlike therapy, however, the major difference is that your coach won’t be focusing on dealing with your past. Life coaches, unlike therapists, are much more focus on where you are now and where you want to go in your life. It’s a goal-directed, future-oriented focus.

Your coach might very well: keep you accountable, help you find your answers, empower you to make great decision, pinpoint what is keeping you stuck, support you in your journey, and encourage you to take the proper action steps to move forward.
