Many people need their car for everyday chors. From driving kids to school, going on a shopping spree, getting to work, or anything in between, having a car is a must. However, to be able to drive, you need to fill up the tank.
While there is only one thing to do to make your car go wild (feed it with some fresh gas), there are several ways to save money on gas. In order to squeeze more mileage out of your tank, follow a few simple tips.
Use Cruise Control
Most people use their foot when they come on the highway. But if you use a cruise control instead, making your car drive more steadily saves you more gas on the long term. Especially, if you properly set your speed limit.
Inflate Tires
This should be a no-brainer, but you'd be surprised how many people forget this simple task. Sure, there aren't many gas stations that offer this basic service, but that doesn't mean that you can't do it by yourself. So, have your tires properly inflated, save money and keep yourself safe on the road at the same time.
Remove The Racks
While car racks are very useful, when you want to carry some heavy things on the top of your vehicle, many people forget to remove them when they don't need them (or they're just a little lazy, like me). Car racks create an air resistance, thus lowing the gas mileage. So, get it off and save money on your gas.
Check The Air Filter
Did you know that the (mostly) forgotten air filter can make your car's engine run 10% better? Having your filter nice and clean (check it every time you change the oil) can save you some moolah. Also, don't forget to replace it when it becomes too dirty.
Clean Up Your Trunk
Having the things you don't need in your trunk is like throwing gas money through the window. Adding weight to your car doesn't help you save money, so take a couple of minutes to clean up your trunk and remove all the stuff you don't need. Let me just add that if you have a smaller car, this weight becomes even bigger problem, as the percentage of extra weight relates to the weight of your car. Just make sure that you don't remove the first aid kit along the way.
So, these tips will help you save money on gas, giving you that extra mileage out of every gallon you purchase. Follow these simple tips and save more money when complating your daily tasks on the road. Good luck and safe driving!
