You may discover Tarot to be one of the most accessible tools that can be learned by anyone and used in nearly any situation. In developing the skills of reading the Tarot cards, clearly your other extra-sensory sensitivities will also be enhanced.
The use of Tarot cards is an integral part of Awareness Engineering. Along with proper philosophical alignment, deep personal self-awareness, consciousness expansion, and behavior aligned with an individual’s highest standards and goals, Awareness Engineering promotes and instructs on the use and development of intuitive techniques, senses, and tools.
Putting the Reading All Together
When the cards have been studied and memorized, the challenge is to combine all the meanings of the cards with the positions of the layout into an integrated and meaningful reading. This is where many people begin to get the jitters and lose their confidence. Believe me when I say that, with practice, you will gain fluency and read the cards almost like reading a book.
Along with that metaphor, think of the cards as individual slices of a story. Each time you mix the cards, you are making a new version of a story. When you lay them out, you read them like a book with a fresh story to tell.
With that in mind, think of the endless combinations of cards creating infinite possibilities of stories, futures, wisdom, advice, understanding, and perspectives. It is a matter of diligent practice to become fluent in the language of the Tarot.
Speaking of Practice
Practice is a vital part of becoming a confident and proficient Tarot reader. The more you practice, the quicker you will become fluent. Think of it as though you are learning a foreign language. Soon you will move from translating each individual card, to reading them as though you are speaking in full sentences with the familiarity of your native language.
To catalyze this proficiency, plan to do a reading at least once a day. No matter how many readings you do for yourself or others during a day, do one reading like this:
* In the morning, formulate a question about what will happen in the next 24 hours.
* Shuffle, divide, and layout the cards in the Celtic Cross pattern.
* Look over the reading with the idea that it represents your path for the next 24 hours.
* Leave the cards there if at all possible.
* At the end of the day, review the cards and determine how they relate to the events of the day.
* Repeat for 90 days.
And remember – have fun!
Reading for Yourself
It is true that it is difficult to do a balanced and honest reading for yourself. As is true with other tools and techniques, we are limited by our own experience, filters, mind set, knowledge, and so forth. We are also more likely to be prejudice in the outcome of a reading for ourself, and may only admit information that we expect, accept, or desire.
With that said, it is still possible to do a reading for yourself. Remember to strive for balance, objectivity, and honesty. Consider the reading as an opportunity to learn, grow, and make corrections along your path.
Responsibility of a Reader
As a Reader, you will want to take your responsibilities seriously. People will believe what you say, even if you tell them you are just beginning. They may also only hear what they want to hear. How you say your message will be important. Be gentle, loving, and kind.
Clear your own emotions and motivations at the beginning of the reading. It is much too easy to put your own interpretations, or judgments, onto the reading. Remember that you create karma with every word, thought, and action – in all that you do, in every moment.
Respect your client, and their feelings. Every behavior is a mode of survival. Every situation has been created by them to support their world view. What can you say to them that will allow them to make positive changes in their perspective, and in their lives?
