Because the business market has always been dominated by men, women meet great prejudice when entering the market; hence business women should work hard to create unquestionable credibility and trust factor for their business.
Adhere to the practices outlined below in order to build credibility and trust factor:
Avoid short-cuts
There are many books in the market that promise to help people become successful business owners overnight. The reality is you can only learn one thing at a time. Therefore give yourself time to learn the different aspects of business. You may need a month to learn about creating effective systems and processes for your business and dedicate the following month to learning the marketing aspect of business. If you want to give your business credibility and the respect it deserves, do not cut corners.
Be yourself
You will gain more trust from people if they realize that you are not some super human. People associate easily with people who have weaknesses and shortcomings similar to theirs. Do not be afraid to share your humble beginnings with people, particularly the mistakes you made while you were still a green entrepreneur.
Be consistent in your business conduct
Mixed messages about your business will impair your business credibility. If one person gives a positive feedback and another gives a negative feedback, it is clear you are not consistent in your business conduct. Inconsistency will also make it difficult for potential customer to decide whether to use your services or not. Customer should not wait a minute before they decide to buy your goods or services. It must be clear from the onset that you are worth their money.
Use the social media to enhance your trust factor
Post messages about positive reviews from satisfied customers on your social sites. If potential clients can access information about your business through social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn you will establish credibility and build a trustworthy online presence.
Share your expertise
Share the information you have about the kind of business you run with other people. Display your depth and breadth in your field of specialization by posting educational and inspirational messages. Inspiring people will build social trust for your business and establish your credibility.
The key in building credibility and trust factor is to ensure that you do not appear more superior to others or come across as “Mrs I Know It All”.
