Dear High Achiever:
I LOVE WHAT I DO. I’m blessed enough to have chosen a career path where I’m surrounded by high achievers every day. The area of personal development is something I fell in love when I was only eighteen years old. To have a life where I actually get to work side by side with my heroes is not only an honor, but a dream come true.
As you might expect, being around such positive, forward thinkers most of the day has many benefits. I get to observe, intimately, how each of them work and how they go about creating the type of life that they’ve envisioned for themselves.
Here’s one lesson I’ve learned: They didn’t just wake up and have the respect, admiration and audience they now are privileged to have. Every single one of them went through a process of personal transformation and applied the formula of –
Be-Do-Have. This formula seems so obvious yet it is missed by so many people who just expect to have or feel entitled.
As you may know, I’m writing a “Diet and Exercise” book that will feature some of my real and spontaneous thoughts as I go through the experience of transformation. I’m happy to say it will soon be in the editing phase. But since it’s on my mind now, I wanted to give you an unedited version of one of my journal entries that speaks to the Be-Do-Have Formula. A physical transformation is something you cannot just have. I think when you read this journal entry you will see how well the Be-Do-Have Formula is illustrated.
Be Driven
Day 56: I woke up today at 4:24 AM and couldn’t wait to get to the gym. I feel 100% better and with only 4 days left in the program, I am driven. I re-set my goal weight and now I’m going for 188 pounds by my final weigh-in before Thursday’s photo shoot. That will be a total of 12 pounds in 60 days and I’m ready for the next level. This entire process has been a tremendous revelation and realization for me. I do believe things happen for a reason and I’ve been blessed throughout creating this program with words of support, inspiration and, of course, my health.
When I woke up the first thought that came to my mind was “Man, I am driven to succeed with this program.” And it’s not just because I’m writing it; it’s because I am living it.
You may have heard of the Be-Do-Have Formula? It’s been around for years and shared by many motivational speakers, preachers and teachers. This morning on the elliptical I was thinking about how important it is for you to understand this formula when it comes to fat loss, exercise and nutrition.
Fitness and weight loss is such an awesome illustration of this formula because it’s not like money or anything you could have without being or doing anything.
Example: You could have a lot of money right now because Daddy had some dough. And if that were the case, you didn’t have to do anything (except be a winner in the Parent Lottery).
But having a lean, strong, healthy body is different. Of course, there might be some genetic and metabolic freaks out there who never have to work out or eat right and are completely lean and muscular. Personally, I don’t know any that are over 30 years old. Do you? Right.
For most people, you have to “Be” committed to exercise and nutrition … you have to “Do” the cardio and eat clean … in order to “Have” a better body and optimum health. And that’s precisely how and why the Be-Do-Have Formula comes into play.
Be driven and committed.
Do what’s required.
Have the outcome you desire.
FYI&F (For Your Inspiration and Fitness) Takeaway: For today and wherever this transformation leads you in the future, think about how this formula applies to you “Having” what you want – in fitness and health or whatever you desire in business and life.
A few days ago my journal entry title was Walk Your Talk. Do you see how this fits in to the entire picture of transformation? You have to “Be” the person you say you are and “Do” the things that kind of person would do in order to attract and “Have” the things you want to have.
