Many have noted the fact that early astronomers had the knowledge of numbers as concepts, but few have considered the significance of the “base number”, which is the real recurring phenomenon. The term “base number” refers to the numbers 1 through 9 only. Each has a metaphysical meaning, a meaning that goes beyond physical manifestation to the creative forces of thought.
Is it possible to really understand the base numbers?
Numbers are hidden laws and provide the answers with regard to many number sequences referred to in ancient texts. They reveal patterns expressed throughout the universe in more than just quantity. Each base number is a philosophical concept. Revelation 13:18 states specifically that we can know what this and all the base numbers are about. “Wisdom is needed here; one who understands can calculate the number of the beast, for it is a number that stands for a person. His number is six hundred and sixty-six.” The number code is what wisdom is all about, and it can be deciphered only by those with understanding. It can be “calculated.”
Number Definitions:
ONE represents the way or the path. It is the concept of ‘initial unity’. It represents manifestation, the coming to something from nothing. It also represents ‘focus’ – taking the lead, getting a fresh start, a new beginning. Scientific man, Inner Being, the Lamb and inner conscious or inner mind always refer to the core of Being and the indwelling of Universal Being or God in man.
TWO represents polarity and choice. It is the perceived dualism of the universe which is in fact representative of polarity – It also represents cooperation, partnership, a new relationship, sensitivity
THREE represents the basis of transformation, will, energy, and it is creative in nature. It means the breaking of inertia, the overcoming of fear and the development of discipline and power – harmony, beauty, warmth and receptivity. It also represents the joy of life.
FOUR represents love, unfoldment, release, receptivity, balance, affinity, connection and healing – getting organized, hard work, being methodical, re-building, and fulfilling your obligations. It also represents a special mission.
FIVE represents sound, rhythm, vibration and communication – freedom of thought and action, change, variety, thinking outside the box. It should be considered the most basic number of the life force. Everything is energy in motion – from perfect simplicity to the complex and eventually to the ultimate complexity.
SIX represents imagination and visualization. It is light, seeing and imagery. It also represents color, perception and dreams – being diplomatic, generous, tolerant, and sympathetic. Imagination is the muscle of the mind – the creative force in action.
SEVEN represents the steps of spiritual transcendence. It is thought, knowing, understanding, consciousness, enlightenment, order and organization. It is, therefore, commonly found in the Bible relative to spiritual matters – mystery, secrets, investigations, research, and detecting deception, exploration of the unknown, of the spiritual realms. It is sometimes mistakenly referred to as the number of completion. This is true in the sense of completion of spiritual transcendence, not the number of completion as in a cycle. It occurs frequently in Revelation and mostly refers to the power centers within Inner Being. Only in those instances referring to the major obstacles to the 7 power centers, as in the 7 heads of the beast, do we find anything that might be considered negative.
EIGHT represents prosperity, material abundance, accumulation, attraction, fulfillment, evolution and growth – financial success, unexpected money, and a windfall.
NINE represents completion of a cycle and physical manifestation – It is the finishing of a project, looking beyond the immediate, realization of goals. Reflection and expansion. The reoccurrence of the number 9 as the number of completion passes all bounds of coincidence. You can find the full extent of numerology meanings in What Now? Essays by Renford, in an essay dealing with so-called “new age” teachings.
0 represents the sum total of All, God, infinity. Multiple 0s in relation to a base number can mean multiplicity without specificity. In other words it can mean “a lot” a large number or magnified amount.
In Luke 10:1 it is recorded, “After this the Lord appointed 72 others whom he sent ahead of him in pairs to every town and place he intended to visit. He said to them, “The harvest is abundant, but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.” The harvest is the completion of a cycle. The base number of 72 is 9.
These definitions are partially taken from Wheels of Life by Anodea Judith; however, similar definitions for the same numbers are found in many cultures. Recognition of these base numbers, along with the dream symbols and the fact that the Apocalypse of John is referred to as a series of visions led to the writing of The Mysteries Revealed, a chapter by chapter metaphysical interpretation of the Book of Revelation.
