The barrios of San Cristóbal, Caballito, and Boedo, are regarded as good areas with less expensive accommodation. They are among the outer barrios of the city. They are grouped among the ‘working class’ barrios, but Boedo and San Cristóbal, the two areas that run together, have a unique alternative, artistic, even bohemian atmosphere that is starting to emerge again after having disappeared for a long time. Being essentially a ‘young’ area, in spite of its beautiful old buildings, you will find youth hostels in the area.
Caballito has a residential area of lovely old apartment blocks that have been renovated, in shady streets.
If you are looking for moderately priced rather than cheap accommodation, take a look around and you will find good value for money in almost every one of the barrios.
