The Best Anime Series Of All Time

A lot of people love anime series, but not everyone has seen the very best of them all. However, if you’re thinking about starting an anime series, or if you want to fill out your collection, you definitely need to consider these best anime series of all time. From adventure anime to romance anime, this list has them all!

1) Attack on Titan

If you ask a group of anime fans what they think is the best anime series, you'll probably get a variety of different answers. For some, there's nothing better than a long-running shonen anime with tons of high-stakes action and gripping drama. Others may prefer shorter series that have more room to develop complex characters and unique plotlines. And for those who really love stories about monsters, there's Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin). This popular TV show follows Eren Jaeger as he joins up with other soldiers from his town to fight against fearsome giants called Titans, who threaten to destroy humanity.

2) Death Note

Death Note is about a 15-year-old boy who discovers a notebook that can kill any person whose name he writes in it. A mysterious teenager who calls himself Ryuk appears in front of him, telling him that he dropped his death note into human realm. The series primarily focuses on Light Yagami's attempts to create and rule a world cleansed of evil as God using the notebook, and on L's efforts to apprehend him. The series explores numerous themes involving morality, justice, free will, ethics, revenge, impeding doom and situations which people may consider life or death.

3) My Hero Academia

Not to beat a dead horse, but My Hero Academia is absolutely one of my favorite series of all time. I think what I like most about it is how it appeals to so many different audiences. On one hand, you have plenty of action for people who love fight scenes; on another, there’s romance for those who prefer shows with romantic subplots; and even for people who don’t care at all about any of that, there are still characters to fall in love with. At its core, My Hero Academia might be an action series about heroes fighting evil villains—but it also tells us that everyone has something they want to protect.

4) Neon Genesis Evangelion

Neon Genesis Evangelion (known as Shin Seiki Evangelion in Japan) is a classic anime series that has achieved worldwide fame, and it’s not hard to see why. The storyline follows Shinji Ikari and his role in piloting a giant robot named an Eva. Each episode builds to suspense and excitement, and you’ll find yourself caring about these characters and wanting to know what happens next. If you haven’t seen Evangelion yet, get watching! It remains one of my all-time favorite anime series.

5) Naruto Shippuden

When most people talk about anime series, they don’t include Naruto Shippuden in their lists. But fans know Naruto isn’t just one of many action-packed Japanese cartoons; it’s a masterpiece—one that became even more epic when it transformed into its sequel/spinoff. The original Naruto aired from 2002 to 2007 and follows a young ninja (Naruto) who becomes an underdog hero and trains to become a legendary Hokage. For parents whose kids want to watch something other than Pixar movies, for teen boys looking for something different, or for adults who like their animated shows with a little more depth and style, give Naruto Shippuden a try.

6) One Piece

Sword Art Online is considered one of the best anime series of all time. Sword Art Online was originally a novel written by Reki Kawahara before it was adapted into an anime series. The series aired in 2012 and has gone on to produce multiple seasons, an OVA, and even an upcoming movie. Sword Art Online follows Kirito, who is trapped in a virtual reality world that allows him to live inside his favorite game: SAO (Sword Art Online). People can play SAO as long as they want because they are stuck inside until they clear every single floor of every dungeon on every server. Kirito is determined to beat Sword Art Online with his partner Asuna but isn't prepared for what he finds when he gets there.

7) Sword Art Online

Sword Art Online is set in a world where there are two separate levels, one above ground and one below. Ordinary people live on ground level, which has no monsters. However, underground is a virtual reality game known as Sword Art Online (SAO). People can play SAO as avatars of themselves and experience some of the thrills of gaming within virtual reality without any of its negative side effects. On November 6, 2022, 10,000 people enter SAO for an opportunity to win $10 billion dollars and it’s through those players that we experience Sword Art Online for ourselves. The first seven episodes form up what’s called Aincrad Arc and here we see Kirito and his new friend Asuna explore their new world.
