Many people believe that a healthy scalp means healthy hair. It's wrong. This is one of the most common mistakes when it comes to hair. Each of our hair grows for 2 to 7 years before falling out. Some external or internal factors (of our own body) can damage our hair while the scalp remains healthy. It doesn't have much to do with hair damage.
So how do you distinguish the true from the false? We hear everything about hair; the latest, the new secret, and our best friend's best recommendation - how to speed up hair growth, how to have better hair, how to have fuller hair, how to avoid brittle hair. Everyone has their theories and tips for keeping their hair healthy or making it grow faster.
Dyson has verified five myths in his hair research lab and is finally telling us the truth.
When washing, water molecules fit between hydrogen bonds in the hair. Wet hair is thus more stretchy than dry hair. This does not matter because these hydrogen bonds close during drying. It also means that damp hair is 50% weaker than dry hair. If you comb or brush them before drying, the force exerted on the hair increases, increasing the likelihood of breakage. This phenomenon is caused by damp hair stretching more than dry hair before it breaks. Wet hair has a significantly higher coefficient of friction than dry hair. This is also why it is much more difficult to comb/brush them in a wet state.
This rumor is based on the premise that cold water closes the cuticle (surface) of hair. However, the hair is not alive. There are no active mechanisms (e.g., opening and closing the cuticle) caused by hot or cold water. Under the effect of the water which penetrates the hair, the cuticle swells slightly. This phenomenon is nevertheless observed with both hot and cold water.
This is wrong - the hair grows at the root, and the body cannot recognize when it has been cut (shaving, plucking, or tweezing is another story). Cutting the hair helps to remove split ends, which helps in better orientation and a healthier look of the hair. If we often have our hair cut, we probably notice the speed of their regrowth.
Once a white hair begins to grow, all-new hair coming out of the same follicle will be white. If a hair is pulled out, the follicle again enters an anagen phase (the first phase of hair growth) and produces new white hair. No evidence pulling out white hair causes other hair follicles to start producing white hair.
The brushing's mechanical action damages the hair, breaks the bonds in the cuticle, and weakens the hair over time. Friction on the capillary cuticle (surface) breaks some small parts of the cuticle that come up due to other damage. This way, the strands can orient themselves better, and the hair looks temporarily healthier. However, brushing is increasingly damaging the hair and making it less resistant to chemical, environmental, physical, and thermal aggressions.
Hair loss is indeed a complicated process and is subjected to individual experience. A person could suffer from alopecia from a tender age or not at all—it is entirely different for each individual. Many of us cram through the internet looking for ways to prevent hair loss. However, no hair loss prevention method as of yet is conclusive.
In recent times, there has been major development in the prospect of hair growth therapy, the most evident example being the QR 678 Hair Restoration Therapy. It is a formulation, listed amongst the world's greatest inventions in hair loss treatment and developed by Dr. Debraj Shome and Dr. Rinky Kapoor. The therapy has a USA and Indian patent and FDA approval in multiple countries. Dr. Shome is an internationally recognized Cosmetic Surgeon with a proven track record in hair growth techniques.
Dr. Shome also co-founded top-of-the-line cosmetic dermatology and plastic surgery centers, The Esthetic Clinics® in India. The invented therapy of QR 678 is a direct solution to alopecia in males and females. The therapy is more inventive and much more effective than Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP injection) or Stem Cells.
