Intestines are in coiling form but when one of the parts slides into another part resulting in a condition known as Intestinal intussusception. It is a serious condition leading to obstruction of the intestine which causes the fluid and food to get blocked in parts of the intestine. It is also responsible for cutting the supply of blood to the intestine, this can also result in tearing of the bowel, infection, and death of the tissue present in the intestine. It is found that intestinal intussusception is one of the causes for intestinal obstruction in 3year old children. The main cause for the disease is not known and is rarely seen in adults. Most of the adults are caused by tumors.

It is rare to find in adults and the symptoms of this disease sometimes overlap with other disorders. Common symptoms noted are Vomiting and Nausea and sometimes it takes weeks to appear signs.
The signs that are seen in the early stages are loud crying due to pain in the abdomen but otherwise, the child appears healthy. You might also see that the child may pull his or her knees near their chest because of abdominal pain. The pain usually lasts for 15 to 20 minutes and in some cases more than that.

The main cause for intestinal intussusception is still not known in most cases. It is often found that the disease is mostly seen in the winter season when the children are more prone to the virus and they show flu-like symptoms. It is believed that this plays a major role in causing the disease.
