What is spirituality?
Spirituality is about staying in our True Self (Pure Soul) as a knower and seer.
What is the True Self? It is the Pure Soul. We are not ‘Rahul (You may insert your name here),’ we are indeed a Pure Soul. Rahul is just a temporary body and name, which will die in this birth, but the Pure Soul never dies; it is immortal. We are a Pure Soul and Soul is permanent. Pure Soul remains as is in all births. Its qualities never deviate. Hence, Soul is always pure, immortal, formless, and full of divine energy, knowledge, and vision.
Pure Soul’s function is to just know and see objects (living and non-living) and experience eternal bliss. That’s all the Pure Soul does. Soul has no hands, legs or brain! Soul does not do any thinking or any actions such as raising hands and legs, talking, walking or running; it is a non-doer. Soul is a non-doer and Rahul is a doer. Rahul thinks, earns money, studies, walks, and even runs to catch the train!
We are really a Pure Soul. However, we have a wrong belief that really ‘I am Rahul’; this body is mine and Rahul is my real identity. And therefore we think that I have two hands, two legs, and a very sharp brain. I am the doer, I study, I walk, and I run to catch the train!
This wrong belief needs to break. Once we realize that really, ‘I am not Rahul, I am a Pure Soul’, then we start becoming like a Pure Soul i.e. a non-doer, and anger, pride, deceit, greed, attachments, abhorrence and most importantly ego begin to leave. Once we become free from all these faults, we become one with Pure Soul and attain Moksha (salvation). Pure Soul is our true identity because it is who we are, and once we know that, our journey of spirituality begins.
“Worldly life is based on action and spiritual life is based on Knowing. One carries out the activity, whereas the other keeps ‘Seeing’ it. The ‘doer’ and the ‘Knower’ can never be the same, they are always separate. They were separate, they are separate, and they will remain separate.” - Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan
Where is spirit located?
Pure Soul is located in the entire body, except for hair and nails. Anywhere on the body, where if we prick a needle and experience pain, it means there is Soul there.
Why aren’t we able to realize it?
When one dies, everything that is temporary remains here - his physical body, clothes, shoes, perfume, wallet, and many other things. Yet, we say the person is dead.
So what happened?
The Pure Soul, which is the life-energy, left the body, and hence the person died. The Soul leaves the body along with the electrical and the causal body! Electrical body is responsible for the aura and luster of the physical body and it helps the body in digesting food and generating heat and energy, whereas the causal body is made up of karma and hence it is the one that gives rise to the new body after death.
When we’ve not realized the Soul, due to our attachment and abhorrence, we attract (charge) atoms with the electrical body, which produces the causal body. These atoms include merit and demerit karma. The causal body keeps charging in every birth due to our ignorance for the Self (Pure Soul).
However, Pure Soul is always pure, was always pure, and will remain pure. Just like Gold remains pure be it in bangle, necklace or earing, Pure Soul too remains always pure be it in animal, celestial or human form. Pure Soul has infinite knowledge, infinite vision, infinite energy and infinite bliss. It is formless, and is free from all faults such as ego, anger, pride, deceit, greed, attachments and abhorrence. Pure Soul is referred to as Parmatma/God. In all living physical bodies, there is the God within, the Parmatma or the Absolute Soul.

Ambalal M. Patel was a civil contractor by profession. In June 1958, spontaneous Self-Realization occurred within Ambalal M. Patel. From this point on, Ambalal became a Gnani Purush, and the Lord that manifest within him became known as Dada Bhagwan. A Gnani Purush is One who has realized the Self and is able help others do the same. Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan used to go from town to town and country-to-country to give satsang (spiritual discourse) and impart the knowledge of the Self, as well as knowledge of harmonious worldly interactions to everyone who came to meet him. This spiritual science, known as Akram Vignan, is the step-less path to Self-realization.
