Do you want to be a ‘better’ or the ‘best’ version? Everyone wants to be the best, of course!
You will be surprised to know, that by real fact, you are already the best. Indeed! Let me tell you how...
If asked, ‘who are you?’ you would say, “I am John. (The reader may insert his own name here)”, isn’t it?
Now, John is just a name given to identify you. But who are you? Your body, mind, intellect, your speech, your actions, etc. are all a temporary phenomenon, which will perish by the end of life. However, your existence has continued life after life, since countless lives, and is there to remain. So this gives rise to a question then, that ‘Who am I?’
Who am I?
What we believe to be our self is actually the worldly self, or we call it the ‘ego’, which interacts in different relationships, with various beings in the world, through the medium of the body, speech and mind.
And in reality, we are a Pure Soul, having the infinite knowledge and infinite vision!!! This is indeed the real ‘I’, but we do not know about it, as we are currently in the darkness of ignorance of the Self. These veils of ignorance are not easy to do away with. They can be shattered only by Gnani, the Enlightened One, having the divine power to enlighten our Soul to help us realize the Self!!!
How can I be a better version of myself, for myself and for others as well?...
After attaining Self-realization, with the awakened awareness of the Pure Soul, we start seeing our own mistakes i.e. the mistakes of our worldly self, with greater clarity and accuracy.
These very mistakes make us see faults in others and give rise to conflicts and quarrels with people. Because until we attain Self-Realization, we consider ourselves to be the worldly self (the ego). And therefore, we keep protecting our mistakes, and on the contrary, insist and enforce upon others that ‘I am right’. In the process, we soil the worldly ‘I’ to such an extent that it hurts our own self as well as others; and it makes us as well as others greatly suffer!
But when Gnani unveils the nature of ego from different angles, and teaches us to observe this ego (our worldly self) in the awareness of the Pure Soul (our real Self), we begin to realize our mistakes. And then Gnani shows us the right ways to get out of these mistakes.
All along, we have always tried to bring about a better version of ourself, by remaining seated in the ego. But Gnani reveals that ego is an attribute which makes anyone blind. And therefore it is imperative that we first get separated and detached from the ego, get into the seat of our real ‘I’, and then identify our mistakes from different phases. Only when we can see our mistake clearly, and realize the potential harm that it is doing to us as well as others, does a hearty repentance and a strong vow to not repeat the mistake, become possible. Once this happens, it ensures a complete and sure end to our mistakes, one by one.
Thus, the task of getting to a better version of worldly self becomes very easy when, staying in the company of Gnani and following His words, we undertake the spiritual endeavour correctly, sincerely and persistently. Doing so, day after day, the ego reduces, and we keep ascending to higher and higher state of awareness of the Self.
Meeting Gnani, the Enlightened One rarely happens, for the Enlightened beings are very scarce. But when one exists, at such a time, we must seize the opportunity and acquire Self-Realization from Him.
Today, we are fortunate that Akram path, which is the stepless path to Self-realization, is available to all; and the Living Gnani, Pujya Deepakbhai, is present amongst us to grace us with Self-Realization!!! We attain the separation between our real ‘I’ and the worldly ‘I’ from Gnani in just one hour of time. Isn’t that great? If it interests you, you may check out more details at https://www.dadabhagwan.org the invaluable experience of Self-Realization does not cost anything at all; there is absolutely no charge for this!
Once we have acquired the knowledge of the real ‘I’, everything has been achieved because this is the very essence of our existence. The real ‘I’ is the best version of our Self that has never got contaminated, even amidst layers and layers of veils of ignorance; and dwelling in the awareness of such real Pure ‘I’, our worldly ‘I’, named by John, too gets better and better!!

Ambalal M. Patel was a civil contractor by profession. In June 1958, spontaneous Self-Realization occurred within Ambalal M. Patel. From this point on, Ambalal became a Gnani Purush, and the Lord that manifest within him became known as Dada Bhagwan. A Gnani Purush is One who has realized the Self and is able help others do the same. Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan used to go from town to town and country-to-country to give satsang (spiritual discourse) and impart the knowledge of the Self, as well as knowledge of harmonious worldly interactions to everyone who came to meet him. This spiritual science, known as Akram Vignan, is the step-less path to Self-realization.
