2.Laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding: This procedure is called so because it uses laparoscopic surgery (or laparoscopy) for an incision. A band containing an inflatable balloon is placed around the upper part of the stomach and fixed in place. This leads to the creation of a small stomach pouch which has a narrow opening to the rest of the stomach. A port is placed in the skin of the abdomen, with a tube connecting the port to the band. The balloon can be inflated or deflated to adjust the size of the band. This restricts the amount of food your stomach can hold, so you feel full sooner.

3.Sleeve gastrectomy: In this procedure, part of the stomach is separated and removed from the body. The remaining stomach is formed into a tubular structure, creating a smaller stomach which cannot hold as much food.

4.Biliopancretic diversion with duodenal switch: In this procedure too, a part of the stomach is removed. The valve that releases food to the small intestine is left intact, along with the first part of the small intestine known as the duodenum. The middle section of the intestine is then closed off and the last part attached directly to the duodenum, creating the duodenal switch.
