This may be extremely harmful as he may not have adequate skill set to handle the customer, especially if the customer is arrogant, rude or highly knowledgeable. Don’t give unimportance to the supplier’s representative when he is in your store for a meeting. The suppliers' representatives play a significant role in any business. But they are not treated in such way in actuality. Though they fixes an appointment about their visit, but often the appointments are overlooked and the delegate for the meeting just pops up at any time. There can be several important reasons for his visit, it can be a promotional offer giving some extra percentage in the running month, maybe he wants to offer some product training to the staffs and/or offer a point of sale display board at no cost. So remember not to ignore the visit of the supplier’s representative, does treat them well and build proper relationship and rapport as they are great resources.
