What is the difference between being in a slump and being in a grave? Being in a slump is depressing, but you can get out by yourself. In fact, it is the only way! People can help you, even encourage you, but overcoming whatever circumstance you face is ultimately your choice. When it comes to moving ahead in life, many people feel they are in a slump, day in and day out. The same job, the same commute, the same everything – everyday!
No matter what goal I am trying to accomplish or what circumstances I face, I can always find great amounts of strength by having a positive mindset. Your mindset is your choice. It can be positive or negative, but it is always your decision. The right mindset will get you to move forward. Your mind is the most crucial tool needed to achieve a greater life. Your mindset is how you perceive things in your life. If you intend to accomplish your goals you must harness the power of a positively strong mindset.
Only you can achieve greatness in your life. While you may enlist the support of others, no one can do it for you. Do you want to know the “secret” of success? It is you! It does not matter how many people believe in you until you believe in yourself. When you Think GREAT you will take the necessary steps toward a greater life, even if you have to begin that process with climbing out of your slump.
When you control your thoughts, you control your life! There has always been a part of me that has felt destined for a great life. Hopefully, you have that same feeling about yourself. I hope that you do. Most people feel that way at least at one point in their lives.
Unfortunately, many of them lose that desire. When my wife was battling cancer, ten years ago, I felt like we were at “rock-bottom.” But, we made the decision Think GREAT, to think differently. We may have been at “rock-bottom,” physically and financially, but we realized that we could get out if we did not allow ourselves to be there mentally. Getting out took a lot of work, but we were much more uncomfortable at “rock-bottom” than we were with the effort required to get out.
On September 2, 2010, my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. But this time we did not picture ourselves at “rock-bottom.” We made the decision to perceive this as a new opportunity for greatness. The only difference this time around is our mindset.
A wise man once told me, “There’s no hocus pocus, just focus.” How you perceive things will directly affect how you achieve things. Today, make the decision to look at all of the circumstances in your life as learning experiences. View them as opportunities to make an impact in the lives of others. Change your mindset and you will change your life!
