We moved out to the country in 1978 and have been raising our own food and fiber ever since. We have experience raising honey bees, chickens, turkeys, sheep and angora and dairy goats. Currently, we are raising lambs, chickens and bees on our almost 6 acre property. I also have experience (because of the angora goats and sheep) with shearing, cleaning fleeces, dyeing, spinning and knitting; I also have been sewing clothing and other fabric crafts since literally I was 10 years old and have recently starting taking lessons in making hats.
Don't be afraid. If doing this sort of thing was all that difficult, the human race would have starved or frozen to death a long time ago. With a little bit of effort, practice and help, almost anything is possible.
