Sophie Nicholls is a hypnotherapist who has pioneered research into the use of creative writing for personal development and in health care.
Her book, Hypnotic Journaling, explores creative writing techniques as a process of self-hypnosis and she runs a unique and very popular six-month online programme in Creative Writing for Personal Development, Health and Wellbeing.
She has a background in corporate training, having first begun to explore ways of
helping people to develop personally and professionally whilst working
as a training consultant for Reuters, the international news agency.
She has a particular interest in the treatment of stress,
anxiety, depression and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and has
specialised in working in this area for over five years. She also has
particular expertise in working with body-image problems and eating
disorders.
Sophie's work using creative writing as a
tool for health and personal development with the Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture has been featured in the national media.
She has a doctorate in creative writing for health and
well-being, examined at the University of Sussex and involving new research in neuroscience and cognitive science that established a model that she is now using in a wide range of health care settings and with her private clients.
Sophie's special approach to individual client work involves using the latest techniques in
hypnosis, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), NLP and
creative personal development and she is constantly seeking out new
skills and strategies to share.
'If the only tool you have is a hammer, everything becomes a nail.'
