GETTING HIP: Recovery from a Total Hip Replacement is Macdonald's first book. It is a patient's guide, meant to help people to prepare for hip surgery and to recover with a minimal amount of pain and discomfort.
Her second book, D'Amour Road, is a novel about two Canadian women who are about to turn 40. One woman goes missing and the other launches a massive search team to find her friend in conjunction with the police, her colorful women's collective and a younger man whom she finds particularly captivating. Its focus is on the conflicting emotions of the people who are left behind when a loved one disappears.
Lastly, Be Your Own Editor is a crash course in writing basics. It covers everything from establishing realistic dialogue and background setting in fiction, to organizing and structuring blog posts, articles and nonfiction manuscripts. Punctuation is handled in a thorough and lighthearted manner, and word usage is examined intensely. If you aren't sure when to use loath or loathe, complement or compliment, or principal or principle... or you don't know when everyday, anymore or percent are used as one word or two, this reader-friendly book is for you.

One of them goes missing, and the other joins a massive search to find her friend in conjunction with the police, her colorful women's collective, and a younger man whom she finds especially captivating. As a writer, I love to help wannabe writers realize their dream. I act as a book coach, assisting new writers to clarify their ideas, organize their thoughts, flesh out characterizations, dialogue, plot resolution and background details. Some people simply need confidence whereas others require direction. In nonfiction manuscripts, I work with clients on structure, flow, up-to-date references and consistency.
As an editor, I'm available for basic copyediting, which includes the elimination of misspellings and grammatical or punctuation errors. I also look for repetitious words and generally polish sentence structure. For more detailed projects, I do a structural edit and occasionally, I rewrite projects.
I love people and everyone's work is unique to me; I treat it as if it were my own because I know the feeling of handing one year's worth of work over to a stranger! It can be unnerving.
I'm affiliated with Dragon Moon Press, a science-fiction publishing house in Alberta and I often refer clients to various publishing companies, depending on the type of material they write. I'm also savvy about self-publishing, and enjoy guiding and directing writers on the entire publishing journey from hiring a graphic artist and layout person to choosing the best publisher. And I have many contacts in marketing, which helps tremendously.
