Dr. Peters established a pet rescue facility in 2002, after retiring from a 25-year career as a chiropractor. She also has experience as a news journalist and freelance writer, as well as computer consultant and certified repair technician. She was a network administrator for a public library and continues to consult with a few personal clients.
After rescuing and rehoming more than 1,000 animals, mostly cats and dogs, she has accumulated more experience with animal care and handling than most people do in a lifetime. (However, she says, most animal rescuers and shelter workers can say the same thing.)
She co-authored and published a book on computer security in 1998 and has since written numerous ebooks on pet care.
