I received my Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree from Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington, one of the country's four medical schools specializing in science based natural medicine and research. I completed my clinical training at the Bastyr Center for Natural Health, an integrative medical clinic in Seattle that serves 30, 000 patients each year. I also provided naturopathic care at the Consejo Counseling & Referral Service to the latino community, and at Covenant Shores, a retirement community. I trained with several other naturopathic & medical doctors, specializing in pediatrics, women's healthcare, neurology and functional medicine. Prior to Bastyr, I graduated Cum Laude from Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with a pre-med concentration and theater (acting/directing) minor.
I am a Board-certified Naturopathic Doctor, Licensed in Washington State. I am a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP) and the Pennsylvania and Washington Association of Naturopathic Physicians (PANP and WANP respectively).
I believe that wellness is best achieved by treating the whole person – body, mind, and spirit. By supporting and promoting the body’s natural healing processes, we can achieve balance on all levels. It is my goal to empower people with the knowledge and the tools to return to and maintain an optimal state of wellness. I also believe that health is not limited or defined by our own well-being. Instead, our health is irrevocably and undeniable connected to the health of the world around us, to our family, to our local community, and to the greater global community. Because of this, I am committed to the creation of a world in which humanity, and by extension Nature, may thrive.
"Those who dwell among the beauties and mysteries of the earth are never alone or weary of life." ~ Rachel Carson
"All that man needs for health and healing has been provided by... nature, the Challenge of science is to find it." ~ Paracelsus (1493-1541)
"It's supposed to be a secret, but I'll tell you anyway. We doctors do nothing. We only help and encourage the doctor within" ~ Albert Schweitzer, MD.
"After you have exhausted what there is in business, politics, conviviality, and so on - have found that none of these finally satisfy, or permanently wear - what remains? Nature remains. " ~ Walt Whitman
"Re-examine all that you have been told... dismiss that which insults your soul." ~ Walt Whitman
"I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority." ~ E.B. White
"You must not know too much or be too precise or scientific about birds and trees and flowers and watercraft; a certain free-margin, and even vagueness - ignorance, credulity - helps your enjoyment of these things." ~ Walt Whitman
“Music is a subtle form of healing because of its ability to harmonize and guide the flow of energy toward wholeness.” ~ Russill Paul
"It is often thought that medicine is the curative process. It is no such thing; ... nature alone cures. ... And what [true] nursing has to do ... is to put the patient in the best condition for nature to act upon him." ~ Florence Nightengale
“ Stories are, in one way or another, mirrors. We use them to explain to ourselves how the world works or how it doesn’t work. Like mirrors, stories prepare us for the day to come. They distract us from the things in the darkness.
Fantasy – and all fiction is fantasy of one kind or another – is a mirror. A distorting mirror, to be sure, and a concealing mirror, set at forty-five degrees to reality, but it’s a mirror nonetheless, which we can use to tell ourselves things we might not otherwise see. (Fairy tales, as G.K. Chesterton once said, are more than true. Not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be defeated.)” ~ Neil Gaiman
"Underneath the reality in which we live and have our being, another and altogether different reality lies concealed." ~ Friedrich Nietzshe
